ELI5: What's the science behind why coffee may work better than energy drinks, if energy drinks have more caffeine?

I've tried Alani and Celsius, both have 200mg of caffeine, and they barely do a thing. However, a 8oz cup of Joe, which I read has around 60-120mg of caffeine, absolutely wires me. What's the science behind this? Could it be due to the other compounds and chemicals in the drinks? I hear that caffeine from different sources can have very different effects on the body; could that be it?

I tried to seek the answer out myself, but I just got linked to articles loosely based on coffee and energy drinks that didn't answer the question. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

[TOMT][SHOW or MOVIE][Pre-2010s] A 2D scene of two shadow figures (A man and a woman) on a bridge or pathway above water. One left the scene, and the other fell into the water and drowned.

A scene I saw as a wee lad very early in life. It could've been a show or a movie. I'm not sure if the entirety of the media is animated or just this scene; the next memory I have is of a live-action scene, which could be part of the same media, or a mishmash of different memories.

Thank you!
