Can I carry my smartphone and a bag to the exam venue? Or will I have to come only with documents and pen for the exam?

Like phones may be kept outside in some place at venue during exam or is totally prohibited? I need my phone for booking cabs, since I would be coming alone for the exam.

I am an applicant from India.

If you have previously qualified for mext, have you put your recommendation letters in sealed envelops? Or just sharing a digitally signed recommendation letter with embassy enough?
