Research Plan for Public Policy Masters

Hi everyone, I'm applying to MEXT (UK undergrad student) and currently writing my research plan. I'm applying for an MPP, however all the advice I've seen online regarding the Research Plan focuses on methodology and equipment needed for research but since I'm planning to go into a taught MPP it seems like it doesn't quite suit my situation.

Does anyone have any experience in this or any tips, I'm quite lost on how to structure it; it doesn't really make sense to me that I'm required to write one even though I won't be conducting research but rather learning.

Thank you!!

Edit: I'm applying via the embassy recommendation route!

Health Form Physician Handwriting

Good day! Applicant from the Philippines here. My doctor disregarded the instructions on the health form to use print-type handwriting, and used a semi-cursive write to fill out the form that seems only somewhat legible (kind've stereotypical doctor's handwriting 😅). Said doctor is also unwilling to re-do the form, and I have limited access to other available options (rural area). Will it be okay to pass this form forward, or am I able to pass a second copy with the original form that has better handwriting?

University of Tokyo Medical Science Graduate Program — English or Japanese?

Hii im from india

I found the University of Tokyo Medical Science Graduate Program and I’m interested in fields like Pathology, Immunology, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology through the MEXT scholarship route.

I wanted to ask whether this program is English-based for international students or if Japanese proficiency is required for admission, classes, or lab work.

If anyone has experience with this program or knows international students studying there, I’d really appreciate the insight.

Can undergraduate choose.

My question is can a mext scholars for undergraduate choose their dream university.

I mean choose here is, put my dream university I want to go ( the university accepting me or not is the university choice).

I want to study in Waseda for my bachelor degree of business.

I am still a high school student btw.

Waseda accept Mext scholars but all I see in graduate one.

Also they say Undergraduate can't choose the university they want to go through mext.

( after I passed the mext)

I can do direct placement in university if my Japanese is excellent. So to put the direct placement have I go to Japan first and apply it or my test results will do the work even when I am in my home. And when I go they will give me my university.

And I check in waseda mext scholars and having hard time understanding the context.

Let say I passed the Mext exam will Mext do the admission work.

Can anyone explain to me properly I having hard time understanding it

What I feared the most is happening..

I just got email from the embassy that I passed the document screening and can sit the exam. BUT the problem is I will not be in the country ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM?!! And literally back the next day... It is so frustrating makes me wanna cancel the trip bruhhh I feel lost and and not excited for the trip anymore.. But it is the first time after a year and a half I can go for a vacation..

Please, is there any possibility or happened in the past that Embassy change date? Am I dumb for wishing a miracle to happen..

Maybe it was my fault for planning a trip on the month they said they will send out the email to sit the examination and interview.. I should know they will pick the same week as last year.. Well good for others who can sit the exam because the time frame to study is longer.

I've been studying for 5 months and it washed down the drain.. Bye, I wanna cry my eyes out.

Has anyone left the scholarship midway and continued their PhD while working full-time in Japan?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently a MEXT PhD student in Japan, but I recently received a full-time job offer in the tech/data science field. I’m considering leaving the MEXT scholarship midway, switching to self-funded status, and continuing my PhD while working full-time in Japan.

Has anyone here ever done something similar?

Specifically, I’m curious about:

- Whether the university allowed continuing as a self-funded student

- Whether MEXT required repayment or had penalties

Would really appreciate hearing real experiences or advice from people who went through this. Thanks!

I Forgot to attach my Photo, resent application 3 hours before the deadline

Hi everyone,

I just submitted my MEXT application via email to the embassy but right after sending it, i realized that i forgot to attach the photo.

Within 20 minutes, and with about 3 hours still left before the official deadline, i sent a second email containing only the missing photo with an explanation.

The embassy guidelines strictly state: "Submit only once from your email address." Now i am extremely worried. Since both emails were sent before the deadline, will this double email cause automatic disqualification, or does the embassy usually combine them?

I believe there should be a chance to complete missing documents, but I’m still not entirely sure because of the strict 'one-email only' rule, and I put [UPDATED] in the subject line and explicitly requested them to disregard my previous email. Based on this, do you gyus think I still have a chance?

Has anyone experienced similar situations? Any answers about that would be good since i am going crazy right now. Thanks you all

Question about KOSEN Exam Contents ( 2020 ~ 2025 )

I`m from Brazil, applying for KOSEN this year.

Since we only have access to the exams up until 2019, a clear pattern of contents can be observed in the KOSEN exams, just as in the UG (Undergraduate) exams. But specifically for KOSEN (Math and Physics), how many times was this pattern broken, and what different contents appeared in the 2020–2025 exams? I saw someone mention optics somewhere, but I couldn't find any other similar report.

Thank you in advance to everyone who can share their personal experiences regarding the KOSEN exams! 😄
