What doors can I use to shut my laundry closet?

When we moved into our home there were two 36 and 1/2 inch bi-fold doors. However, because of the tight closet space, it causes them to bang into the dryer every time we need to open them. We also have to shut the door leading to the kitchen so we can open the right side door and access the dryer.

Recently I took the doors off to make things easier to access. However, the laundry closet is an eyesore and the machines are much louder when being used.

My first thought was to add overlapping sliding farm doors that hang within the frame. I was going to purchase the hardware and then make my own thin barn doors. This way I could slide the doors from side to side when wanting to access the washer or dryer. However, the opening is 73 inches wide. If I were to make the doors 36 1/2 inches, I would not be able to access the dryer when the doors are to the left. I cannot install traditional sliding barn doors because there is a wall to the right and to the left it would get in the way of the other closet doors and possibly hit the small portion of the wall in between the two closets. I do not want to install accordion style doors because my wife thinks they are ugly and break easily.

Any help, ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
