ESAT prep

hi, everyone, how did everyone prep for ESAT? I finished all the ENGAA and NSAA and tmua, 15+ on engaa, 12 avg on tmua paper1. I'm stuck at 4.1 on esatlab. I really need some tips to improve? my current issues seem to be that some questions are very complicated and seem really hard to finish in the time limit. (Any resources would greatly appreciated) i'm applying to EEE btw.

oxford vs cambridge

hi everyone,

i'm debating between magdalen oxford or worcester oxford or magdalene cambridge to do engineering? which do you guys think is better? from what i heard the prestige is similar but cambridge is a bit higheer, i js wanna go oxbridge to experience living posh (the formals, the dinners, the traditions) as a normal dude, all that seems interesting but still debating which to go for.

my predictedds are maths A* fm A* cs A* physics A (we don't talk abt what happened to me in physics). getting cooked, fried, boiled baked by the esat (4.5 esatlab so automatic scaling ifykyk).

so yeah tell me what i should choose cuz rn i'm at a standstill. (im ultimately looking for cambridge scenery and more traditions and posh stuff (hence why i'm leaning oxford) if ym recommend other colleges from oxbridge also pls recommend will consider (COURSE: Engineering btw)

Also if ym know a college at oxford that basically has that cambridge aesthetic pls tell (the only reason i wanna go cambridge is cuz the buildings look nice. yeah, my preferences and priorities are out of place)

ESAT checkpoint

hello everyone, since there's a month to ESAT, are there any resources to see my current standing on the esat? i've gotten 4.3,4.4,4 in m1,m2 and physics (i genuinely am so bad at physics any tips to get better mainly find questions i find esatlab very hard). Mainly, i wanna do a practise exam that fully simulates the exact difficulty of the esat. On lab45, i got 6.0,5.4,5.2 for m1, m2 and physics. can someone please tell me what i can try that can tell me how well i've been doing

Realistic esat assessment

Hey everyone, is there any sites where i can find esat papers or practise sets that mimic the real difficulty of the esat, (not harder nor wayy too easy, in the middle). (free to use). I wanna know where I currently stand on the ESAT.

ESATLAB query

Hi everyone. I was just wondering how far off is an esatlab grade from the mocks?

I got 16/27 right on physics but it says the average is 14 that poeple got right would have been 14.0. So how do I get a 3.9 on the ESAT. knowing that 4.5 is the average grade? surely it should be higher? or maybe my basis is wrong.

q2) maths 4.5, maths 2 4.4 and physics 3.9 how would be how much on the real thing? (like apparently the scores are dialed down (idk if its true, read it somewhere on reddit)? i'm sitting the october one and if my scores are this horrible, it might be time to move my exam to january

Oxford Engineering application

hey evereyone, i'm in year 12 selecting my choice on UCAS, on the list of engineering courses, i found EEE and engineering science both on the list. I'm aware that first and second years is just broad engineering studies. I want to do EEE at Oxford so should i be selecting the EEE course or Engineering science one? Also, how was people's day to day lives sutdying engineering science like (i'm set on doing engineering at Oxford because I love the area, the really small tutorials and how they want to push students to think at max capacity but I just wanted to know so I don't get any surprises. (PS: i don't use reddit much so idk if part of this is meant to go in another subreddit)

ESAT advice.

hey everyone. I'm doing maths, maths2 and physics in october. i've finished all the engaa past papers and get around 15/20 on average. I've also done the TMUA papers and heard it was good preparation and consistently get around 10/20 (1-2 marks more on earleir papers). My issue is on esatlab i'm at 4.2 maths1, 3.8 maths 2 and 3.2 physics (i focus more on maths 2usually than physics as it is my weakest). i've finished the esatlab question bank for maths 1 and maths 2 not for physics.

I need more questions and maybe some tips on how to improve as i've been at a standstill on the esatlab questions (mainly accuracy errors, my timing is actually pretty decent. i end up getting like a good 2 mins after attempting all the questions). on lab45 mocks i get around 22/27, 18/27, 22/27 respectively. ik all the content and stuff. (i don't know how accurate the lab45 mocks are but i get similar marks on the specimen so i'm assuming its decently accurate.

I've stated my current standing as far as I know as detailed as possible. Any tips on how to move forward. (I'm basically feeling hella guilty for doing nothing). Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

esat advice on how to improve

hey guys,

i'm taking the october sitting for the ESAT, I've been grinding Engaa papers and managed to get 20/28 on them. After finishing the question bank on esatlab? is there any other way to keep improving? i've been at a standstill my scores are ranging from 4.3-5.4. (i think the 5.4 was a one off it was the 2016 paper i got 5.4 on)

Isaac physics practise tests.

hi everyone. i stumbled across Isaac physics Physics admission test, and Maths admission test and it says it was made for the ESAT how similar in difficulty are those questions compared to the actual ESAT? same for the maths one too. Does the difficulty increase as I go higher in papers e.g physics admission test 5 is harder than the first one? because the questions atleast for test 1 were quite easy.

If i apply to imperial to a course where my grades are below the minimum requirement, will I get an offer?

Hi everyone, I was wondering whether if anyone has anyone got an offer from imperial courses where they got lower than the entry requirement? I am a contextual applicant. Because if it is highly unlikely, i was thinking if i would be better off applying elsewhere. (not many great unis compared to imperial =( if there is not much of a chance of getting an offer. I want to do EIE hopefully.

(brief context: i'm predicted A* in maths, a* in cs, A in physics.)

Further maths for Imperial EIE

Hi everyone. I’m a contextual student trying to apply for Imperial. My school offers further maths but I didn’t take it. My GCSE grades are:998887766. With 6 and English lang and 9 in maths and physics. (I chickened out because people were saying it was extremely hard.) I take Maths, physics and Computer Science. I was wondering if let’s say student A is a contextual with maths, further maths and physics with A*A*A* and same ESAT score as student B with A*A*A* with maths, physics and computer science. Would the further math student be favoured more than me? Also, is there anyone that has gotten in whom was also roughly in my situation. (PS: I studied further maths solo just me and the school textbooks I borrow from the library just core pure 1 and core pure 2 so far and it isn’t that bad.)
