I have (I hope I didn’t steal) idea of a character.
Old and I mean OLD elf who has amnesia, and he looks really old so everyone has questions about him, how old he is, who is he, are there even old elves?
(In old I don’t mean 200 years old, I mean he looks like grandma or grandpa)

I’m a DM starting a new campaign. For previous campaigns, I scripted two sessions and improvised three (I had no plan at all, but I knew where the party was coming from, what had happened, and what they wanted to do).
I usually (like everyone else, probably) build campaigns around a specific hook; for instance, my first session centered on an occult mystery village that sustained the prosperity of the entire kingdom. The second was about a knightly tournament (I was simply inspired by “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”).
So, please throw some hooks my way for a new session (keep in mind that this will actually be a brand new campaign, so let's avoid the usual "lord of darkness" tropes and the like).
And please, I don't want five-paragraph comments where three of them are about how pointless my request is. Just hooks.
I’m new at dm-ing and I really love it, but it’s hard for me to switch from story mode to fighting mode. I know that without battles some players will just sit and look at bards and rouges making some crazy stuff.
I don’t know how to make fights interesting, for all the characters, not only tanks and mages.
