Focusrite Liquid 56 standalone mode (without disconect it)

Hi! I have a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 that I want to use as an ADAT converter/expander to add 8 inputs and 8 outputs to my setup. My main interface will be an RME Digiface.

I'm following Focusrite's standalone setup guide, which explains that after configuring the routing in Saffire MixControl, you save the configuration to the hardware and then disconnect the interface from the computer. From that point on, it boots with the saved routing. (this is the guide https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/206849939-Setting-Up-Saffire-Scarlett-1st-Gen-in-Standalone-Mode )

My question is: what happens if I follow all the same steps but don't disconnect the Liquid Saffire 56 from the computer? Will it still work as an ADAT converter/expander while remaining connected over FireWire?

The reason I'm asking is that, if that's possible, I could still open MixControl whenever I want to change settings such as switching an input between Mic and Line, or changing the Liquid preamp emulations on channels 1 and 2, without having to reconnect everything or re-save the configuration every time.

Has anyone used it this way? Does it work properly, or are there any limitations or conflicts when using it alongside an RME Digiface as the main interface?

I'm not talking about not limted aesthetics but the kind of music that needs limitint for genee purposses. Loudness and the aesthetic from the compression itself. You put a brickwall limiter at the end, even if you only limit 2 db you're (at least I do) gonna end with a suashed waverforms: straight line and no peaks and valleys. How do you avoid this whn using a brickwall limiter?
