Buying an older laptop for Rhino8 - Jewelry work

Hello all,

I'm looking at buying a laptop for use in a jewelry design class. They'll be using Rhino (v8 I think), and doubt they will be doing much rendering. I have powerful desktops for that if needed anyway.

Money's a factor and I want something long lasting so I am looking at a refurbished business laptop with an i7-1265u and 32GB DDR4.

I used Rhino donkey's years ago but I have no idea what the real-world performance expectation would be for this today.

Anyone still using gear this old for modeling at this scale/complexity?

Edit/Update: Thanks for the replies. I figured these specs would be ample, but wanted some real-world input before spending the cash. Appreciate the response!

Anyone used CAMECHO brand Android Auto/Carplay device?

I looked at this model on Amazon for CAD $75. The price is low enough that I won't cry if it fails, but high enough that I don't want to buy known junk.

I know that there are a ton of these on the market at wide price points, and I think most likely 80% of them are exactly the same product, but you never know. Wondering if anyone has used this model or at least this 'manufacturer'

Can I customize the 'Browse media's (Media Library) view for media players?

I've been struggling to even articulate the question for Google and AI searches...

When I open a media player (squeezebox, through Lyrion Music Server integration) and click the Browse media button on the bottom, I get a view titled Music Library with a number of icons. I want to remove some of them with an aim to simplifies navigation with a touchscreen panel.

Is it possible to affect this at all? There must be some configuration file somewhere...

I just moved into a house pre-wired with Cat5 and in-ceiling speakers in several rooms. All cabling terminates in a single room (Room1). I want to get rid of the (broken) Niles ZR-6 installed in that source room, and use my own solution.

I have HomeAssistant and a separate Lyrion server. Each 'client' room will use the ethernet drop for PoE-powered network stuff (e.g. HA control panel). I'm not sure how to solve the speaker problem: Each room's speakers should be discrete, and not have to play the same thing as the others. For example, I want to be able to play music in the kitchen and a streaming radio station in the den. Let's say I control each with HA or Lyrion.

I know I could connect a piCoreplayer to each set of speaker wires in Room1, but I'm wondering if there is something available to take a single digital input (say, USB), and send discrete output signals to a number of output channels?
