Woodsman… kinda ok… I guess

I was excited when it first came out because when I get the chance, I like to hang around the camp and build it my own control-freak way.

The pluses- the fire is maxed out on day2 if you have quick fingers. by day 3 you can buy all the farm plots. if you plant bright wood trees, that’s all the fuel you’ll need for the rest of the game

The minuses- totally dependent on finding at least a rifle to complete the first stronghold or clear other cultist locations or kill bears. Also you can’t pick up the chainsaw

All of this was predictable before I bought it.

What I’ve realized is 1. Get the Alien revenge event at the beginning and you can get the proper weaponry to progress. and 2. The unlimited wood in the sack would be the best Talent in the game, if you’re lucky enough to get it! That is the most valuable feature of the class.

Why are the English translations in archaic English?

I have a coffee table book with The Book of the Dead from the papyrus of Ani, translated by E.A. Wallis Budge between 1894 and 1924.

Is there a reason why this and other translations of ancient Egyptian texts , none of which were translated in the 1600s, choose to formulate the English like this:

“Thou risest, thou shinest, making bright thy mother, crowned king of the gods. Thy mother Nut doeth homage unto thee…”

… and so on.

Are they also translated in other languages with this (it seems to me) artificially dated language? I mean, it’s not like Ani was speaking early Modern Egyptian, right?

Found at a medieval fortress I dug at last summer

Greetings! I was hired labor at the hilltop fortress near my town. This coin was found by another worker and is now safely in the hands of the state. (I myself found a silver ring, a spindle made from bone, and literally hundreds of pottery fragments)

They say it’s gold and depicts Justinian on one side and Nike on the other.

Hopefully you all find it interesting. Experts are dealing with it now but I am curious if anyone here can give any cool info about it. I actually only worked there out of personal curiosity (it was two months of hiking, sweating, mosquitoes, tree stumps, and very little pay 😂) so… I’m just curious!!

Thanks in advance
