On the fence....

My family (myself, 29F, spouse, 31M, 2 sons who are 5 and 2.5 yo, and an old cat) is finally in a good place to get a dog, and my husband and I are having a hard time deciding on a breed. My biggest reservations about larger dogs is the shorter lifespan, but I've seen that GSMDs tend to fair better than many giant dog breeds. Give me the good and the bad, how has your dog's health been? How long did they live (or how old are they currently)? How big has your dog gotten? Your biggest pros and cons of the breed? Even though you may love this dog, would you recommend them to friends and family if they were looking for a dog? Thanks so much for the feedback!

Mild scoliosis and muscle spasms

Hello, I figured I'd hop on here with folks who might be in my same position.

I'm 29, female, 8 years ago, I started with a chiropractor (not sure how chiropractors are viewed here, I didn't see anything in the intro post) and they took xrays before doing any work on me, and according to them I have a 14.5° curve of my spine (and also a loss of curvature in my neck). They said, "Looks like you have some mild scoliosis, nothing to really worry about, it's unlikely to get worse." Great!

Fast forward to now, I've since had 2 kids, no issues with my spine or anything during pregnancy. However, since I had my first kiddo, I notice if my shoulder muscles start getting locked up, sometimes I'll wake up with a debilitating back spasm in my upper back, right behind my right shoulder blade, it just radiates up my neck and across my whole upper back and I really can't move much. As in, I need my husband to help me change my shirt and even get up out of bed. I usually will go back to the chiropractor for treatment because typically they can get me in same day and really I go because mine will do scraping and I find that tends to help the best to get my muscles to calm down.

This thing happened today and my chiropractor made the comment that my scoliosis might be the cause of this issue, or a contributing factor. Has anyone else dealt with this, especially with such a mild case? Currently uninsured, but with that tidbit I was thinking about seeing ortho once I do have insurance again, I don't even know what they could do to help? Muscle relaxers maybe? Just for flare ups? They really are quite debilitating and I have 2 kids to chase and a physically demanding job I need to be able bodied for. Just wondering if this is a common problem with MILD scoliosis or if maybe I have some other issue. Thanks!
