Is my bike gone for good?

Hi everyone, this is my bike, it's an old Raleigh bike, sports model I think but I don't know the exact model. English is not my first language so I'll try my best to explain what happened.

Basically a long piece of cloth got stuck in the hub of the back wheel, which stopped moving of course. The only way i found to fix it was to rip the cloth apart, but even then the wheel wouldn't move and it was a bit out of axes. I hit it a bit and it got back to normal for a day or two. Then it suddenly stopped working while I was pedaling. if I tried pedaling the pedals moved by the wheel wouldn't.

Now the situation looks like this:

I think the problem is in the little rings that are part of the gearbox:

I tried moving these rings a bit and now the pedals are stuck and the wheel still doesn't move. The problem is that these bikes are out of production, so if I have to replace a piece or two it would be near impossible to even find those pieces. I know that one way to solve this would be to completely remove the gearbox, but I would only resort to that if it was my last option.

I'm not a bike expert so I haven't been able to figure out on my own what's going on, if anyone of you has any idea, it'd be very helpful.

I hope I've explained everything clearly and thanks in advance for your help!
