UNION CITY: THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF HIDDEN TREASURES AROUND YOU.

Okay, maybe not actual treasure… but hear me out. 👀
Have you ever walked through a park or trail and thought, “I wonder if there’s anything hidden around here?” Well, with Geocaching, there literally might be.
Geocaching is basically a real-life treasure hunt. People hide small containers called geocaches, upload their coordinates, and then other people use the Geocaching app to go find them. Some are easy, some are REALLY sneaky, and some even have puzzles you have to solve.
📍 And yes — there are geocaches all around Union City.
You can go with your friends, family, or just explore on your own. It’s a fun excuse to get outside and discover places you probably would’ve never noticed otherwise.
And once you’ve found around 20 caches, you can start getting into the other side of Geocaching: hiding your own. You can create your own container, choose a hiding spot, and make an adventure for someone else to find.
So if you’re looking for something new to do around Union City…
Maybe your next adventure is hiding somewhere closer than you think. 👀🔎

East Bay geocachers !

Since I live in the east bay, I wanna promote some of my favorite caches that I think are so worth your time and were so fun to find!

  1. GCB6E4H. (Fremont, CA) this is a letter box to cash, and I had so much fun finding this one, this geocache has 20+ favor points, and it is located at a library and sponsored by the library.

  2. GCBK06C ( Union city, CA) I don’t really understand why this geocache doesn’t have more favorite points, but I’ve never seen a hide like this, it was so creative pretty hard to find!

  3. GCJ247 ( Newark CA) this one is very creative, if you don’t want the location given away, please don’t look at the pictures. This one is a micro, but it was so worth the time I loved it.

  4. GCBT6D3 (Union city, CA) This one is pretty brand new. The location was pretty good, plus I love the container because of how cute it was and I just love the creativity because I don’t think I would’ve thought of hiding a geocache there

  5. GCBTEAN ( Union city, CA) this one was SOOO creative. It took me a couple of different tries to find this cache. You just have to check it out.

Thank you to “Teamwowza2023”, “Odlyshapedpancakes” , “TeamAlamo” and “User20201203” or such creative hides. I love all your work!

Dear Fellow Geocachers, Help me find a perfect spot for a cache here

There’s a small walkway trail right in my city, it is surrounded by a whole bunch of trees, including palm trees. Somebody in my area already made a geocache where they took an old palm fiber - drilled some holes in there, added bison tube, and disguise that as an actual palm fiber on the tree. I absolutely wanna do something tropical themed but I have no idea what to do. Can somebody please give me an idea of what geocache I can hide here, how will it be disguised and where in the area should I hide it? I know it’s a lot to ask for, but I promise if I’m gonna be using one of the ideas I will most definitely give you soooo much credit. Thank you in advance.

Ideas for creative hides?

I have been in this community since May 12th , and found 73 geocaches already. I only have 3 hides, but 2 of them are very very basic and somewhat boring. But my most recent one already got 5 favorite points in a week :3

Anyways, does anybody have any easy but very creative geocache ideas that I can make? I literally feel so stumped , because my area doesn’t really have that many creative jokes so I don’t really have any inspiration. Also, social media doesn’t really provide any examples that I could maybe use..

Why do so many people hide geocaches and then just leave the community without archiving them?

I am so irritated by other cache owners building and creating a new geocache, that eventually goes missing, or the state of it is absolutely disgusting. And when I go to nicely contact them, I never ever get a response, along with many other people who complained and direct messaged the owner. If you are leaving the geocache community, please disable or archive your caches.
Thank you !
