Need trackable sticker for car made

Hi! I made my car a trackable find, but I need to get the code made into a sticker for a reasonable price. Does anyone have any suggestions, or has anyone used a decal website before for something and had a good turnout with it for a good price? I really only need one, and I've already activated the travel bug I'm using for it.

Am I (CO) in the wrong?

TL;DR I deleted a log because the cacher didn’t sign the log or send photo proof but got mad and logged it as found again and said I should have provided a pencil

So a few weeks back a cacher DNFd one of my caches and direct messaged me and said they couldn’t find anything and that the plastic box they did find was empty. Which I was able to tell them that they weren’t looking at the right place because the cache is a metal lock box on a wood street pole.

Fast forward to today, they logged it as found and messaged me saying they found it but the plastic box was between a fence and a building (which I know isn’t the cache because again it’s a metal lock box on a pole). So I tried messaging to get clarification and they weren’t giving straight answers, so I went and checked on the cache and did not see their name, so I deleted the found log.

Shortly after they logged it as found again and said they didn’t have a pencil and that they’ve never had a log deleted because they couldn’t sign the log and the the CO should have provided a pencil.

What are everyone’s thoughts and opinions? This isn’t an inexperienced geocacher, they have around 700 finds. And the cache isn’t that hard to find, especially since I gave pretty good hints about it not being a plastic container on the ground, and it being a metal box on the pole.

Am I just being too picky, or am I justified to delete their logs?

Spamming for favorites

Maybe it's just an isolated instance but when did it become a thing to message other cachers and ask them to find their cache and give it a favorite?

A'Tuin

Finally! The trail is easily doable in one go, but I’m a bit of a slacker, so I tackled it in three stages. Great A'Tuin is finally complete! 😁

How do I place a new cache?

A friend and I would like to place a cache around our regional town. The rules/guidelines on the site seem a bit complicated. Can someone dumb it down for us?

Can we just place a jar with a home made note book inside? Do we need to have a blurb for muggles in case they find it? Does there need to be a QR code or can we just write a link to the geocache web page?

Anything else completely obvious that we missed?

Favorite Cache?

Hi everyone,

My friend and I are geo cachers and we wanted to hear other peoples favorite/most memorable or creative finds they’ve come across. For us, it was an underwater submerged one that we used our kayaks to access on a lake. It was attached to a buoy and the details said it was inspired by a fishing spot a father and son liked to visit that the father placed the cache there. The container was a pvc pipe and we left behind a fishing bobber to stay on theme!

39.5km mission

A while ago i created a route across 23 geocaches in my geo app. Today i decided to take the bike it was fun because at the start i got at a frontyard cache and met the CO he gave me a trackable to take with me. Along the way there were some caches i couldnt reach because i didnt have the right tool . They where to high in the tree. One of those i could reach by climbing up the tree but my pants were cut by razor wire. When i was about 4 hours on my way it started raining and i was about 2km in empty land searching for a cache i couldnt find with lots of wind and rain. I sended CO a message i have to go back for that one too. It was a good day i ended up collecting 17/23 caches and took 2 trackables with me.

geocaches in playgrounds

Not sure if this has been posted before but what do you guys do when the cache you’re looking for is unfortunately placed next to or within a children’s playground 🥴😣.

I went geocaching with my friend a few days ago (we are both women in our early 20s) during the evening so there were virtually no kids or families there except for one older lady with her dog and granddaughter. We minded our business and she ignored us at first, until we started checking under slides and play structures at which point she seemed content to just gawk at us (understandably loll) and eventually asked us what we were doing which was awkward and uncomfortable so we eventually left before we could find the cache.

I think we probably looked super weird so I don’t blame her for raising an eyebrow but I do question why so many people continue to place caches in areas where a lot of children play. I cannot think of a more conspicuous place.

The next one we went to was also in a public park which had a playground component but that one was a larger open space and there was also a dog park there, so when we weren’t fielding balls meant for golden retrievers we would look around the playground area and loudly ask each other “HAVE YOU FOUND THE EARRING YET?” And “ITS SILVER RIGHT?” Which is admittedly not the best strategy lmao.

Posting photos of the cache: yay or nay?

I used to occasionally take a picture of a cache I'd found and include it with my log. A CO once messaged me that they wished I hadn't posted the photo and asked if I would remove it, which I did (they asked nicely, and explained why they didn't want photos, so I was happy to oblige).

What are your thoughts on including photos of the cache itself? If the description tells you exactly what you're looking for, then I don't see the harm. But if there's nothing more than the Size indication that clues you in, do you post photos of the cache?

Built my big cache...but there's one micro problem.

I'm putting a very large trinket Tradepost in a downtown area, with approval and help from the town and a local business. Because I love geocaching so much and especially large hides/fun sidewalk art projects I spent a long time creating the box and thinking of the community interaction aspect. Kids love trinket trades and the area is just full of tiny micros.

One problem:

There's one of those tiny micros just within range of my large trinket trade/trackables hotel. Of course. And nobody has touched it since March.

Is it gauche to contact the CO and tell them about my idea so they could possibly move the micro elsewhere? My box is custom designed for the space I've picked for it. It's unique to the area and will encourage more people to play the game. it's the only cache of it's kind in the local area and I'm going to be maintaining it weekly.

Thoughts?

Your Logs Matter

It just keeps coming up in post here— about quality of caches. You can’t control what people put out but you can manipulate good caches into existence by using the tools at your disposal, which is LOGS!

➡️ leave awesome, super detailed logs, with photos when you can on the caches that you enjoy. Leave favorite points when a cache is one you’d like to see more of in your area. Tell COs they are doing a great job and often times they will be encouraged to hide more and get even more creative.

➡️ for caches you don’t enjoy, it’s very possible someone else loves that type. But if you think a cache is a lame one— say an LPC in a spot where there’s tons of room and permission for an ammo can/gadget cache, or a nano in a field of 1,000 other nanos, simply don’t go out of your way to support that cache. Leave a nice, short message, and don’t do any “community maintenance” on that type of cache. Report owner attention if needed. No one is going to maintain dozens of caches that have no favorite points and need constant maintenance and eventually they will archive it, or it will be archived on the CO’s behalf by the reviewer.

Does this make more work for the reviewer? Maybe, but only if the CO doesn’t respond to the owner maintainence request, and I think most reviewers would prefer a little extra work over zombie caches anyway.

➡️ log all your DNFs. This helps the owner know if they need to check on a cache. In your log, you’re welcome to say “I didn’t have much time to look” so that they know how much effort you put in. I have caches that I know if you can’t find them in three minutes, they are gone and I really appreciate those DNFs!

➡️ lastly, hide the kind of caches you want to find! If you are bummed your area is nothing but micros, do something more creative. If your area is gridlocked and doesn’t have space for new caches, consider just messaging the CO who owns a lot of caches in your area and telling them that you have some big or interesting caches and that you’d love to adopt a space if they ever need to archive. Don’t forget to get property owner permission. Sometimes the reason an area is micro’d out is because property owners don’t want anything bigger or because micros don’t get muggled.

Hi!! I am totally new to this exciting world of geocaching and went on my first adventure to the Walmart Home Office looking for a geo cache named Hanging Around suppose to be in a parking garage in a black pill bottle on the NE corner. Does anyone have any clues or help on where to look?

Lonely New Cache

I placed my first cache, GCBQK92, on May 25. I was on a hike for a couple other caches on the trail, couldn't find either, but I got to the end of the trail and thought the waterfall was pretty, and wanted others to have a reason to come out there.

The problem is, this place is in the absolute middle of nowhere Alabama. Most of the community down here, and especially in Blount County where I placed it, are elderly people. It's a difficult trail, I don't expect this to have many finds, but a FTF would be really nice.

Does anyone have a similar experience? How long did you have to wait for a FTF? Is there a way I can advertise this to my community without being obnoxious?

Best/longest trails in Poland?

Hi!

Could someone recommend some nice, longer trails located in Poland? I have been browsing the map for a while but haven’t found anything anything noteworthy yet so I thought I could ask here.

If there is a better way to find trails, please let me know!

3D-printed caches?

I recently realized that Thingiverse has a LOT of Geocaching-related files. Some are just swag (like a token for the FTF of a given cache), but a huge portion of them are actual containers -- rocks, tubes, stylized skulls, etc. I'm wondering about the integrity of a cache's container if it were to be 3D-printed? It could very much depend on the specific material being used, but I use the 3D printer at my local library and the filament is known to get brittle when the air is too moist, so they keep each spool in a big Ziploc bag. I also know you're not supposed to let a 3D-printed cookie cutter soak when you wash it. Swag would be one thing, since it's already going to be sitting inside the cache and you can put each individual item in a tiny Ziploc bag, but I'm contemplating if the cache, being exposed much more to the elements, might not be able to withstand it for as long as more traditional container types.

Does anyone here have experience finding or hiding a cache with a 3D-printed container, and how did that go?

Interesting/fun caches in Munich

Hey guys, just wanted to ask if someone here has had an experience with some unusual caches in (preferably) or around Munich. I will be going there not for the first time already, but for the first time since discovering geocaching. I’m going there for around two weeks in the end of July so feel free to send as much recommendations as you want! Thanks in advance 😘

Experienced geocache person Netherlands

We have brought a geocache from Cyprus and need someone to put it here in Netherlands for us. It is a person who’s daughter died and they wanted to see the cache go to Netherlands and we don’t know how to do it. So we want to give it to someone who can hide it for them.
