My J2CR CBE vs Ultre’ review

I bought a j2cr lh cbe and then bought the standard handle because I’m bad about choking up a lot and did not realize this until I had the long handle. Sold it and bought the Ultre. It came in Thursday and after several sessions here is my impression.

Power and spin goes to the Ultre. It is more grippy. Hard to explain. But just is.

Pop goes to the Ultre by a tad. But for some reason I do punch volleys much better with the j2.

Control, drops and resets go to the to the j2.

The j2 is louder and sounds better imo.

If I had to choose the j2 is the paddle for me. I do want to try a j6. But I have always been a hybrid fan.

Why paddle construction is best and worse for tennis elbow

From your experience, what paddle construction types have been best and worse for your tennis elbow.? I started with a J2K, then tried a J2 TI which did not aggravated as much and that was in 2024. I have found foam paddles to not bother my elbow nearly as bad as other constructions. I did try a Luzz Cannon and by the first or second hit I was filling it right away. Is there any commonalities people have observed? And before you say it’s my form, etc., which it may be, I am 50 years old and have several injuries from other sports in that area. From weightlifting, golf, and dirt bikes in my youth, there are some historical reasons there. It sucks getting old. I remember when OPP stood for something other than old people problems.

Can increases swing or twist weight help with tennis elbow

I have noticed since going to a lighter paddle and waiting it up less I really feel like I’m hurting in my elbow more. Conventional wisdom says that a heavier swing weight would hurt your elbow more. But after trying a few set ups, I really think what’s hurting. My elbow is twisting. What say you?

Does anyone know what causes double hits on the ball?

I have a Vatic V Sol Pro Flash long handle that for some reason I get double its in often. Obviously not on hard shots. But more soft medium shots. I’ve done it before with other paddles but this one is so frequent I’m wondering why. Is it because it’s gen 4, is it the light weight. I would say it’s me if it happened a lot with other paddles. Anyone have any experience in this area?

I had zero racquet sports experience before I started playing pickle ball. So I just chose the hybrid shape because that was what was so popular almost 2 years ago. I started with a J2K because that was paddle was all the talk in 2024. I have tried a widebody and did not like it. But lately, I’ve been tempted to buy an elongated. I play mostly doubles. But the J6cr shape is tempting me. So has anyone gone from a hybrid to an elongated then stepped back down?
