Biggest Mispay I’ve ever had

Well the title pretty much sums it up. I was playing rated at my local, up a couple hundred when the count jumped. I throw out $250. I get dealt 7,4 for 11, dealer is showing 6. Cut card comes out, so last hand of the shoe. A couple players make decisions and then the dealers relief dealer taps them on the shoulder to let the dealer know they are there. It comes my decision and I of course double down. I get dealt an Ace for 12 (of course). Dealer turns over a 3 for 9 and then a face for 19. He turns and looks at me and says 21! And promptly pays me. I just blink a couple times in shock and then the new dealer comes in. I immediately color up and leave.

How long should I wait to return? Should I be prepared to pay them $1000 next time I return? I really like this place and I have had some cheap mispays before but this is another level. Still a little in shock and paranoid.

Tournament Play

I know the strategy shifts quite a bit in tournament play resulting in odd plays but could the tournament itself be used to identify counters? Especially these invite only tournaments where you have to provide ID. Do counters ever target tournaments?

Odd One

I had another odd hand today. So I am playing a few hands then a new dealer comes to tap out the current dealer. In this particular casino when there is a dealer change the new dealer has to burn a card. Well this new dealer forgot to burn a card and dealt me a crappy hand and dealt himself a blackjack.

Now I only had $25 on the hand so I grumbled a little and put another $25 out for the next hand. He deals one card and I say, you do know you forgot to burn a card right? He realizes he didn’t burn a card and calls the floor over. The floor was immediately annoyed and said, I can’t just give you $25 back out of the tray. I said, no problem I wasn’t trying to be difficult and the floor replied that they couldn’t tell I wasn’t trying. Just being an absolute smartass.

Was I in the wrong for saying something? I immediately wished I didn’t considering just a $25 bet but had that been $500 what would have happened?
