Experience getting Clomid? NHS or Private?

After a recent progesterone test, my GP is referring us on for fertility support. He basically said “youre not always ovulating, it’s an easy fix” and suggested I need Clomid.

I put a question in here around wait times for my local fertility, and it seems to be quite a wait.

Is there any other way of getting Clomid without going through NHS? If I was to find a private clinic, could I be prescribed, but continue with the NHS referral just in case it doesn’t work or there’s wider factors at play (I get a lot of per period spotting so I’m convinced there’s other factors at play, too).

I’m not trying to “jump” any queues, but if all I’m being told is I need certain medication, I want to get my hands on that as quickly as I can!!

Jessops Referral - Wait Time?

Hi all,

Following a recent progesterone result, my GP said he will refer me to fertility support at Jessops. He said before he can do the actual referral as a couple, my husband needs to be referred for a semen analysis.

My Husband was referred (Providing it happened same day) on 7th August.

Realistically, how long should we expect for him to get an appointment for his analysis?

we have been TTC for 12 months.

Thanks!

Overhauling Manager Support and expectations

I want to float an idea and see what others think/ would do. basically, I work where its very results driven, if there are 121s or reviews, they’re very results focussed. its very ad hoc about how managers conduct their 121s some people get development discussions or wellbeing others don’t. We always talk about the what we want to achieve not the how we want to achieve it (values). I was speaking with an internal director who’s relatively new, and I was asking what he thought was missing. He said leadership profiles and basically spoke of the basics like 121s, reviews, Monday meeting at 10am, giving employees 2 hours A week (I think) for personal development, essentially improving communication, he didn’t say anything inventive but spoke about the importance of completing these above the work.

I did push back to say this is essentially what we ask bjt because there’s no consequence for not doing it, and leadership don’t hold managers to account, there’s no motivation for a manager to do all of this. We are also a very very lean organisation, so most of the times managers are doing the work over managing people. We have a lot of accidental managers.

on reflection I like his ideas, and like we have someone super engaged, and I’d like to use this director to work with him on what the gaps are, and trail some of the suggested changes in his area. I’m guilty for an all or nothing approach (again given the business). I really want to build a culture of really great communication, 121s and support for both managers and colleagues. Where everyone feels they have the opportunity to develop.

How would you tackle this, where would be a good place to start?

Do I engage him now or do I spend time mapping out what good would look like before approaching?

it’s like he’s given me some good food for thought I just don’t know what to “do” with the information (I’m in HR, but don’t head up the function).

Manager Training

Hey all - I wanted to reach out and get other HR Professionals opinions/ experience on how you manage manager training (specifically people management).

We have our standard e-learning (not engaging) for mandatory areas, and then we facilitate face to face training/ workshops for people management areas like disciplinary, absence, performance.

I want to add more tailored training like spotting warnings signs of mental health (we did invest in MHFA but this didn’t really add value so wont be doing this training again), effective communication etc. some training is tailored at new/ junior managers and some at more proficient managers.

my question is we really struggle with attendance, even if we say it’s mandatory we have managers just not turning up because of workload/too busy/forgot.

I don’t want to add a host of training when we don’t have that initial buy-in. This lack of engagement really goes right to the top. We’ve tried all the tactics - sickness, ER trends, development. Nothing works.

any tips on how to feel like I’m winning by here, get buy in and engagement and ways to deliver courses that aren’t always face to face workshops or an e-learning video? We are also email heavy business with so much communication I’d be worried of doing “tips”

Progesterone - similar experiences?

I have been TTC since October 2025 following removal of my coil (hormonal). we conceived after 5 cycles, but from cycle 4, I started spotting from approx 9/10dpo, before my period. I was also spotting throughout the pregnancy, and around 5 weeks, I miscarried.

Every time I spoke to the Dr about my concern regarding progesterone (due to bleeding and the miscarriage), they wouldnt entertain it because I conceived and therefore must be ovulating. i also, at that point had all the “markers” for ovulation, like cramping at a similar time I’d get my peak LH test.

I paid for a progesterone test about a month post miscarriage and my result was 53.20 nmol/l. despite what seemed like a good result to me, I was still lost why I continued to spot/ breakthrough bleeding before my period.

Because my breakthrough bleeding continued, I decided to visit another GP in my practice to see if they offered different advice. i should also say at this time i was waiting for a scan as recommended by gynaecologist for the bleeding (due to a separate situation.) this visit to the other GP was compounded by the fact since about May, I’ve stopped having any ovulation pain.

This GP referred me for a progesterone test. I’ve now had that result back, which is 15.5 nmol/L. Following this, we are now talking about a fertility support pathway (I should also say my scan result is totally unremarkable, no concerns).

i’m confident my test was on the correct day, my bloods were drawn on the 13th July, my period arrived on 17th July (my 7dpo fell on a weekend).

my question really is has anyone had such a drastic change in their progesterone results? he was talking about progesterone injections - I thought it would be as simple as pessaries - has anyone experienced this? Is there anything specific I should be going back and asking the doctor? anything I should be doing myself personally in the meantime to help naturally with my levels? the only thing I’ve personally changed is I’ve began running - which does coincide with the May changes..

Breakthrough Bleeding

has anyone else experienced breakthrough bleeding, and can share experience if this impacted TTC?

around my second week of my luteal phase I get spotting/ light bleeding, it’s normally brown in colour but this month it started earlier (around 6/8dpo - unsure of my dpo this month) and lighter and pinker. I do NOT believe this is “implantation” bleeding. Especially as it’s continued and has darkened.

I’ve been to the doctors several times and they don’t seem concerned - mainly because I did get pregnant before but sadly that ended in a miscarriage.

has anyone experienced this, and got support ? Or did it have any impact on TTC? They just suggest progesterone test to see if I am ovulating but I’m not concerned that I’m not ovulating. I am concerned that this bleeding is a drop in progesterone and therefore I can’t sustain a pregnancy. I need help / advice !!

TWW & Bleeding

hi there, yesterday I had a random bit of light pink bleeding. it was definitely visible and slightly more than spotting. I usually get sore / tender boobs when my progesterone is rising and yesterday it eased off. today my tender boobs are back, with back pain, no bleeding for most of the day and then this afternoon after going for a wee it’s there on a the tissue again. still light but I’d say darker in colour. the issue is I decided not to do any LH testing this cycle and just regularly BD - so I’d say if I had to guess I’m around 7-9dpo. The bleeding is confusing as it’s too early for my period, the tender boobs is confusing as I never have tender boobs and bleeding. has anyone had this that has then moved into a successful pregnancy? I’ve not taken a test because I assume it’s still too early. I had a miscarriage in March, and I did bleed throughout that pregnancy before we lost it, but this is different to that…
