Am I at risk after using 3uTools just once to check my iPhone 17 Pro's hardware? Need advice.
Hello everyone,
I recently bought a new iPhone 17 Pro and wanted to ensure all its components were original and hadn't been tampered with or replaced. A few people recommended using 3uTools on PC to view the verification report. I downloaded the software, plugged in my phone, trusted the computer, and ran the check. Fortunately, everything came back 100% original and normal.
However, right after finishing the process, I did some research on the tool and realized it’s developed by a Chinese company and is surrounded by massive controversy. I’ve read completely contradicting opinions: some people claim it's straight-up malware/spyware that resulted in their accounts or data getting breached, while many technicians and casual users swear by it, saying they’ve used it for years without a single issue and that the backlash is just anti-China paranoia.
I am now quite anxious and want to get an objective assessment of my situation. Am I at actual risk for using it only once, exclusively for checking the hardware report?
If there is a legitimate risk, what exact information could they have actually extracted or stolen in those few minutes? (e.g., Apple ID, banking apps, logins, or just hardware serial numbers?).
One thing that really alarmed me and triggered my suspicion was that as soon as the tool loaded the main device interface, it displayed a widget containing a real photo straight from my phone's photo library. This clearly proves the tool had immediate access to my photos the moment I pressed "Trust."
I haven't done any jailbreaking or extra modifications. What is the best and most effective checklist I should follow right now to ensure my phone, PC, and data are 100% safe and secure?
Thanks in advance for your help!
