Hey everyone! I just got my first espresso setup and I’m looking for some feedback on my shot. I attached a video of the extraction and would love to know if I should improve or if anything stands out.

Current setup:

• Gaggia Classic E24
• DF64 Gen 2 (stock burrs)
• Normcore bottomless portafilter
• Normcore 58.5 mm spring-loaded tamper
• 1.0 mm puck screen
• Scale for dosing and yield

The only puck prep tool I didn’t use was a WDT tool.

Coffee:

• From a local Roaster
• Guatemala Huehuetenango
• Washed process
• Roast date: 6/29/2026
• Shot pulled: 7/3/2026 (4 days off roast)

Shot recipe:

• 17 g in
• 38 g out
• Approximately 28-second extraction

From what I could tell there was little to no spraying. Overall, I thought the shot tasted pretty good and wasn’t very bitter. I’m definitely not an espresso connoisseur, so I’m still learning what flavors I should be looking for in a well-extracted shot. I prefer cappuccinos or iced coffees but I do enjoy sipping on straight espresso every now and then.

For some context I have pulled fewer than 20 espresso shots in my life, so I’m still very much in the learning phase. Thanks in advance!
