Is this normal for Taiwanese universities?

Hey everyone,

I’m supposed to start my exchange semester at Fu Jen Catholic University in Fall 2026.

The problem is that, according to the university’s timeline, exchange students were expected to receive their admission letters by the end of June. It’s now July, and neither I nor my home university have received any updates.
My home university has already contacted Fu Jen, but so far there hasn’t been a response. I also tried calling the International Office, but nobody answered.

Is this normal for Taiwanese universities or for Fu Jen in particular?

At the moment, we can’t apply for our visa, book flights, arrange medical examinations, or organize accommodation because we need the official acceptance letter.

Has anyone experienced something similar or is anyone else still waiting?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Is anyone doing an exchange at FJCU Taipeh in Fall 2026 and still waiting for the acceptance letter?

Hi guys,

I was nominated by my home university to do an exchange at Fu Jen University in Fall 2026. It‘s July and we still haven‘t gotten a final Acceptance letter. Our home university sent the application out in May.

Is anyone also still waiting for the final acceptance letters?

Is this a good plan to find accomodation in Taipeh as an exchange student?

Hi guys,

I’ll be starting my semester abroad at Fu Jen Catholic University from September 2026 until January 2027. I’ve been doing a lot of research on how to find accommodation in the easiest and safest way.

At the moment, I’m not planning to stay in the university dorms since the rooms are shared with 3 to 4 students. I’m totally fine with sharing an apartment, but I’d still prefer having my own room.

My current plan is:

  1. Book an Airbnb in Taipei for the first 3 weeks.
  2. Search for a long term accommodation once I’m in Taipei, mainly through Facebook groups.
  3. Preferably find a place near the Orange Line MRT.

Would you consider this a good approach?
Do you have any recommendations, tips, or things I should watch out for when looking for housing in Taipei?

Thank you!

Wrong proof of language certificate in application

I was nominated by my home university for an exchange semester in Taiwan (MBA course). My application was officially sent today.

Now I’m anxious because I don’t have an official TOEFL/IELTS test. Instead, I submitted a DAAD language certificate with CEFR level C1 in English. As an information, on the university site they stated they need a TOEFL certificate.

The reason why I didn’t hand in the TOEFL test is because first, I simply didn’t check close enough and was to close to the deadline. Second, the test is extremely expensive in my home country.

Has anyone ever had the same issue? Do you think I could get a rejection because of this, eventhough I got nominated by my home university?
