Peer Leadership/Young Leaders Groups?

TL;DR: Wondering if anyone is a part of or knows up peer groups targeted towards young leaders or new executive leadership

Hey all, I’ve been really lucky to have had a couple of stewards who really believed in me and have opened doors which have allowed me to grow in my organization very quickly. In 5 years I’ve held 4 positions and have most recently moved to a Director Level where I report directly to my org Executive Director. Due to some org changes we’re looking to bring on a VP/Deputy Director/COO whatever you want to call it and there has been some pretty obvious probing on whether I think I have capacity, if I’d be interested etc etc.

The thing is, I’m 30 - which I guess isn’t young, but I came to this organization directly out of the military so pretty much all my real-world professional experience has been with them. I *want* to grow but there is a part of me that is a little overwhelmed with the concept of not knowing what I don’t know. Like someone said “after some tweaking the budget penciled” the other day and I was like WTF does that mean??? And had to google it.

Anyways, my ED is very often mentioning his ‘CEO’ groups that he’s a part of that he gets mentorship and peer learning from and I’m starting to get the sense he’s mentioning them because he thinks I’d benefit from something similar as well (or maybe I’m reading too much into it who knows). Which is all to say, I have no idea how to find these groups? I’d really like to connect with other people late 20s/early 30s that have moved into the higher level leadership just so I can learn/idea share/just have people with similar experiences to vent with. I know these things exist, I just don’t know how to find them. Curious if anyone has any suggestions, like a discord to join or something? Haha

Buy/Sell Mega-Thread

Hey Everybody,

In order to minimize having a bunch of threads of people trying to find or get rid of tickets, we'll just keep a Mega Thread up. Please use this thread to post any buy/sell requests, and include any information you'd like. As a reminder to everyone, scams are not uncommon on reddit, please make sure you thoroughly vet anyone before sending money to them, or before transferring tickets to them if you are not using official channels. I am not a Form or Ticketmaster employee and will not be able to assist if you get entangled with bad actors.

Common Scams

If you are working with someone to buy or sell tickets, please be on the lookout for the common tell-tale signs of a scammer. Be wary of brand-new or low-karma accounts reaching out to you with virtually no post history; people running scams will use throw-aways so that they're harder to report, block, etc. Be wary of people asking to connect on another platform but not being willing to verify their identity. Be wary of 'too good to be true' type deals. If someone is offering to buy at way over your asking price, or willing to sell at way under market price, they are likely trying to get you to jump into the deal without thinking so they can run a fast one on you.

Ticketmaster Listing

Ticketmaster offers facilitated resell. You can post your tickets on Ticketmaster through your profile if you are wanting to sell. Ticketmaster allows you to sell at face value at not cost to yourself. Ticketmaster also allows you to list below or above face value if the vendor allows you to, unfortunately I'm not sure if Form is allowing it. Ticketmaster does let you sell partial packages, so if you had a friend going who is no longer able to, you may get rid of just one ticket if you need to. If you are trying to sell a ticket, I would strongly encourage you to sell via the official platform to minimize risk.

Artist Spotlight: Annahstasia

Annahstasia

150,000 monthly listeners

When you first queue up Annahstasia, you're immediately pulled in by her earthy baritone voice against a blend of jazz and R&B. According her website, she was born and raised in Los Angeles, Annahstasia taught herself music sparked by her Uncle's passion for soul and blues - she names Nina Simone, Bill Withers, and Janis Joplin as early inspirations to her musical identity. She signed her first record deal at just 17 years old, but when her vision was at odds with the industry, she elected to return to school before coming back into the music space.

Her music immediately feels poetic, the type of songs you'd hear walking through a field or sitting in a window watching the rain fall. A blend of folk, soul, jazz, and blues, she combines simple melodies with her raw talent and voice to draw you in as a listener. If I had to describe her sound it would be cinematic. For those of you returning to Form or familiar with previous lineups, Annahstasia has worked with Aja Monet, and its easy to see why the two would find each other in the work.

Her 2025 album Tether is beautiful and intentional, road pulling you through Annahstasia's poetry on love and on living, as she describes it as 'the truest expression' of herself so far in her music with Sleek-Mag A recurring theme throughout her music, Annahstasia presents a window into her mind as she covers topics from identity, womanhood, blackness, and spirituality. One of Annahstasia's passions is in sustainability and justice, making Form a natural destination for her performance if you ask me!

Top Songs:

Be Kind - Tether

Seriously, every single day we get a post from someone that is effectively

>I am using AI to write/draft/review/think for me, is this unethical/bad/making me stupid?

The answer is every single one of these threads is a virtually unanimous yes. Every single time. The threads don't change, the conversation doesn't change. Every single one is just someone outsourcing their intellect to a computer because ?? despite being in a career path that is literally about thinking.

I get it, AI is cool. I use it occasionally to find book recommendations, do a fantasy football mock draft, or provide feedback on whether the wine I'm pairing with a meal actually pairs as well as I'm anticipating. This isn't some 'old man shouts at clouds' technology resistant commentary. AI has it's uses, but those uses absolutely are not for academia especially when you are a student.

I'm sorry to tell this to you, but no challenge you are facing as a student is new or unique. You are not the first student ever who has struggled:

  • Writing a dissertation in your non-native language
  • Putting together charts for your data
  • Reading articles
  • Conducting literature reviews
  • Writing abstracts
  • Conveying your ideas in an digestible way

This whole point is that you aren't the first, academia is literally structured to surround you with people who have similar experiences, knowledge bases, and more advanced expertise to help you grow into a fully fledged and independent academic researcher. You - by design - should not be outsourcing development of these skills to AI because it is important for you to develop them yourself. We understand its hard, no one is saying the challenges you face aren't, but AI is not the solution, building the skillsets that academic have used for literally the past 300+ years, based on approach theory that is literal millenia old that has advanced science, technology, and human understanding to the point of being able to make AI is the point.

It is just ridiculous how often these posts are coming up. Stop using AI. Just stop. If you need grammar checking (I'm under no illusion that Grammarly for example isn't NLP and a form of AI), great, more power to you. But stop using AI to generate your thoughts. Think for yourself. It is very literally your job.

IDK MAN. I just feel like a megathread for all these dumbass AI questions so that everyone can just auto-reply "Yes, this is bad. Stop it."

ETA: Lots of people responding say "But AI has its uses!" and I'm not disagreeing. I am talking about the people that are using AI in lieu of developing foundational skillsets like academic writing or literature reviews rather than building the skill themselves and then supplementing it with AI.

An Indianapolis native and a part of the band Big Thief, Adrianne Lenker was described by the New York Times as "disarmingly sincere and attentive". Listening to her music, it is easy to believe, her music revealing a deeply nuanced and complex worldview. Best described as mixture of Indie & Contemporary Folk, Adrianne Lenker's music explores topics like love, loss, life and death, and the experiences we go through every day that make us human - all to the background of idiosyncratic guitar work and unique, sounds often lifted directly from nature and the world around us.

Listening to Adrianne, I'd call her a romantic, which makes sense given she was once quoted saying "...every song I write is a love song [...] and understanding love is like a lifelong journey." (Exclaim!) While Adrianne doesn't necessarily talk about love in every song, there is a clear undertone of a romantic love for life and existence, and the pain that comes along with it, throughout her music. In 'Real House' she gives us a journey through her childhood, through homes, vans, and apartments, and the various places she came and went through as her family moved around. In 'Sadness as a Gift', Lenker explores the ways in which the sadness that comes with loss is evidence of the love that was there, the power of the life, and the gift of being able to experience it, even if fleeting.

Adrianne's approach to music is unique and esoteric, many of her songs have been written in the studio, where she weaves together lyrics and music, no headphones, no playback, simply trusting herself, her team, and letting loose the raw emotion she felt in the moment. Don't let the emotional and raw music deceive you though, Adrianne's life and studio is filled with laughter, reflective of her natural affinity towards humor.

Top Songs:

  • Sadness as a Gift - Bright Future
  • anything - songs
  • not a lot, just forever songs
  • Fool - Bright Future

Sleeper Picks:

  • Donut Seam *Bright Future
  • Cradle abysskiss
  • come songs

Random Factoid: Adrianne is a three-time state karate state champion (I was not able to figure out when after some extensive googling unfortunately!)

Find her on:

Also worth saying I was not familiar with her prior to this, so please if anyone has anything to add!
