Stranded in YVR
Flew in to Vancouver last night from Toronto and Flair forgot to put my child's car seat despite it being checked in. We arrive and are waiting for an hour for baggage, looking at the regular belt and oversized yet nothing shows up. Of course no member of Flair is at the counter for baggage assistance in the domestic arrivals so we go upstairs to find a staff member at the departures. Ultimately we talk to 2 members of flair , both who were super nice. Yet no solution is found.
They state the car seat never made it on to the plane despite other folks car seats being on the belt. Furthermore they state, that it wont arrive now most likely until tomorrow morning. We ask what solutions are there now to get home as our child doesnt have a car seat. Legally we cant drive home now and are stuck.
They state since the stores are closed now and its 11pm they cant go instacart a car seat for us. They suggest we take an Uber or taxi and we could file for a claim after - but legally to my knowledge neither would take a baby in their car. They offer we look into renting a car and see if rental company would have a car seat. Ultimately costing us a few hundred bucks- and of course we'd have to file for a claim.
All airlines should have car seats available in this situation, regardless of the time- where they mess up as ultimately we are left stranded at the airport in the middle of the night with no safe way to get home!
