I might be a bit biased to say this was a 5 star, to me it was, but it generally is not the type of danmei that is popular. But nonetheless I LOVED it with every fiber of my being. I adore this danmei. This is my comfort read.
Summery: **Lu yao(**MC), a closeted gay man from modern times got reincarnated into the body of a ger( a man who can give birth) of the same name. He got reincarnated on the night of the original body's marriage. He is very quick to adapt to him new life, and is overjoyed that he can finally marry a guy.
This danmei is heavily focused on familial relationships, from the sibling of the ML to the entire family of MC. The supporting characters r definitely not the most nuanced or extreamly well developed, but I couldn't even find a fault in that, because every character is appealing in thier own way without needing much nuances to them.
MC: Lu yao, i adore lu yao, he is so amazing. He has No protagonist halo. He is a soft, mature, deeply caring and strong. He initially just comes of as this goofy sunshine with a bit of an edge but my man is actually brilliant. This dude is waaayyy smarter than people give him credit for. The only thing he is armed with is his knowledge of the modern times and he uses it like a champ, he becomes an incredibly wealthy merchant through his own strength. He didn't get that "sponsored by rich guy" treatment, he made every single cent by himself, by his own hard work and I adore that about him. And he isint weak >!when somebody hurt his man, he literally made his people tie up the perpetrators and intoraggated them. Threatening to pour hot boiling water over them each time they lied. That scene literally gave me chills.!<
ML: Zhou beichuan. GREEN FLAG, GREEN FOREST. THIS MAN IS THE. SUPPORTING. HUSBAND. He is an insanely strong guy who is deeply supportive of his wife, and adores the heck out of him. Every single thing lu yao wanted to do, he has always supported. Not only that, but he is also one heck of a big brother. His mother died giving birth to his youngest brother, and his dad died of grief shortly after. This incredible man, took care of his siblings who r like 0 and 3 years all by himslef, he worked like an ox, and provided for them. He may not make the best food and he may not be the smarted tool in the box but he is an amazing person. And he truly absolutely loved lu yao (>!The fact that he spent 3 lifetimes as a non human animals all to spend another life time with lu yao will forever be ingrained in my mind)!<
Romance: This book isint very Romance focused but that doesn't mean there wasent any. The relationship progression is very cute, and they r just all in all an adorable couple.
Personal thoughts: Loved the characters, the kids and everything. Xiao nian and xiao du r absolutely adorable, the entire lu family is so supportive and nice. This is probably the most realistic farming novel ive read. The ml had to go ro corvee Labour twice, and all the emotions were quite realistic. Spoiler: >!I bawled my eyes out when lu dad died, he was literally the best. He chose excellent husbands for his kids and was just so incredible,always helping out whenever needed. I cried again when we saw him in the side stories and in that dream.!<
Actually until the very end of the novel, i just thought this was gonna be a 4 star read, it was good, but nothing much to it. But yall the very last chapter of the side stories I DONT THINK I HAVE CRIED THIS HARD READING A DANMEI, i ugly cried, chest heaving, i couldn't sit. That singular chapter mad me realize how attached I was to these characters and how much they meant to me.
Dont worry tho! Its a HE, its just that one very specific extra story. I loved thay reveal at the end. It made me sob.
This is the type of danmei that you wont realize how much it means to you until you finish it. I keep finding myself thinking of these characters in my day to day life, and that proves how memorable they were.
P.s: >!Widow songs tragedy still haunts me. He was was abused throughout his life and then abused again in the house he married into, raped by his brother in law after his husband's death and then shunned by his society and family and thrown into a place worse than hell. Im not saying that he wasent at fault, he did try to kill lu yao and his family. But he did not deserve all that, nobody should be pushed to the point of insanity.!<

Everybody talk about chapter 279 but what about chapter 300??😭😭😭. I randomly decided to read my tabs on erha vol 10 and I read just ch 300 and now im crying.
All those flashbacks that chu wanning had about mo ran before he was corrupted and about taxian jun as a reverent. She mei taunting chu wanning calling him heartless and him agreeing???😭😭😭. Broke my freaking heart.

Ok phew, let me just wipe my tears first cuz this book shattered my soul into pieces and then glued it back together one peice at a time.
Plot: The story is exactly as it seems in the title. Its the Seventh Year that the Demon king(ML) captured the Holy Monarch(MC) of the human realm, The son of god. The Holy Monarch and the Demon king fought a battle which the MC lost. The Mc then willingly submitted to the Demon king and became his slave for the sake of the humans in his kingdom. The book is has a pretty nice balance of both plot and romance, with heavy focus on the development of the mc snd mls relationship.
MC: One of the KINDEST Mc's ever. Newer thought id find an mc kinder than our resident scrap collector but here he is. When I tell u he has newer had a selfish desire i mean that HE HAS NEWER HAD A DESIRE for himself. Man is the personification of selflessness. The title "Son of God" is absolutely perfect for him. What i loved is that for the majority of the story he was severely weakened, yet at not a single moment did I feel that he was weak. His mental strength is incredible. This man had a goal and he did EVERYTHING in his power to achieve it eventho the success rate was probably 0.1%. (~~Minor spoiler ahead)He did something terrible to the ML and accepts it and does everything in his power to rectify it
Ml: I truly loved the ML in all honesty tho he had a lot of flaws. But one thing that was very obvious was that the ML loves the MC. He loves him. It started with hatred (justified) and ended in pure love. Demons dont even actually have the concept of love much less marriage. The Mc had to explain to ML what love was (albeit poorly, given his gross lack of experience) and he learned how to love
Now I have to talk about the Rape. Please hear me out before u make any judgements: **The Mc was technically willing. Yes the ML did pin him down but when he got that the mc was uncomfortable he himself became uncomfortable because to the demons sex is simply enjoyment. He was gonna get off the mc but it was the mc himself who shouted "**Im willing!" But he was raised celebete as the son of god so he isint comfortable with idea of sex, but he is willing to let the ml bed him.
As i explained before demons dint have the concept of love or marriage, to them sex(merging as they call it) is something to be purely enjoyed. They have no concept of exclusivity. Merging is basically considered as a super fun thing to do. Like during thier festivals people go at it in front evenrone without any sense of shame, its akin to enjoying a dance during a festival.
My thoughts:
If religion and faith can guide mortals to do good and be good then does it truly matter whether god exists or not?
If faith in God gives hope to the distraught and peace to the suffering then does it truly matter whether there exists a divine?
I consider myself agnostic, but this prespective made me way more tolerable to the idea of religion. True it is questionable that some people need religion to know right from wrong, if it helps then does it truly matter? Just because some people use religion as a method to do harm, we cant completely shun it.
The book is very short with only 70 or so chapters in the main story, tho short I felt everything was covered with no loose ends, the book managed to make me ugly cry. Only complaint is i wanted more chapters of them being lovery dovey at the end. It has a very melancholic feel, from the beginning u can feel a kind of dread. I honestly thought it was gonna be a BE but thankfully **its a HE (**if it was be the author would have had to pay for a therapist)

My problem with cold/aloof characters is that usually in most stories it feels like they dont love there partner as passionately as thier partner loves them, the love feels unequal
(not saying they dont love thier partner but as a reader i just cant feels thier love for the other is not as intense which is not true in most cases. An example of cold aloof character i like is chu wanning, u can clearly see the man is as head over heels for mo ran as mo ran is to him)
But the MC here is my absolutely favorite aloof mc archetype. Even tho he has a lot of boundaries, he finds a way to love the ML through all that. U can see how much he loves the mc through both his words and actions. He is not ashamed or embarrassed to express his love and is all in all very mature.
Another thing I absolutely loved is how both of them have thier own separate lives. Thiere worlds dont revolve around each other entirely (tho a majority does). They have thier own friends, careers and interest and they find awaybto love eachother without sacrificing any of it.
AND I love the ML, he is a walking green forest, he respects MC's boundaries and has newer once even attempted to push him into anything.
Its a pretty short danmei with only 78 chapters and a dozen or so side stories. Definitely check it out.

A small sypnosis: The story is about our mc, shen jie (shou) who ends up in a novel world as an extra, a reasercher who dies early on. But suspiciously enough, the Main story starts 7 years after the supposed beginning of the og novel. This world is basically a post apocalyptic world where aliens r trying to take over the world. The people who fight against the aliens are humans who have awakened powers. Our ML is one such superpower user (This and the novel updates sypnosis is the only thing u need to go into the book, the later reveals r insane)
Plot: 10/10 plot, one of the very few stories i have read which has no loose ends. For the majority of the story we r kept in dark about a lot of things but as we reach the ending the plot twists just keeps on coming and by the end of it not a single thing was left unanswered. Every single part of the story was well thought out and extreamly entertaining
Romance: The Main cp is married, so they r in love from the very beginning of the story. And they r also very VERY affectionate (damn do wish there was some smut, fuck u censorship). If u like the relationship between Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye in Ballad of sword and wine, u will absolutely love this couple. I think they r the first couple i have read after Cezhou that have such a tender relationship. And the mc reminded me a lot about shen zechuan. Like its not thier exact relationship dynamic but the vibes r the same
My only complaint is that I wish it was longer, its only 107(+9 side stories) and I feel like too much happened in the plot for there to be only this much chapters. But im not saying it was rushed at all. I just wish we got to see more of there life after the grand finale

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE STORY.
From the plot to the characters to the writting, everything was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed every single page, like i was genuinly unable to put this book down. Perfect mix of action, romance and comedy with exellent writting and translation.
Characters: my opinion a good story is something that makes us feel connected to every single character, irrespective of the who is the "Main Character" "supporting character" or extra. Every character in this book was extremely compelling and an absolute blast to read about. Even the villain was amazing, so much so that irrespective of the shit he has done, I cant bring myself to hate him, I even understand him to an extent,
Romance: NEXT, THE ROMANCE. Hands down the BEST slow burn I have ever read. I could just feel the love, affection and trust these two people had for eachother in thier every breath and thought. They complete eachother in every definition of the word. And there relationship is extremely tender. Like these guys were cuddling up on the bed, tenderly caressing eachother and bathing together from like the beginning of the story.
ML: The ML "love" for the mc was extremely intriguing because throughout the novel has has very clearly expressed his ardent desire to become "one" with the mc, my literally consuming him whole. And yes, I mean he genuinely wanted to eat him (Hannibal much). He repeatedly wished to dig into the mc flesh and bones to figure out what exactly lies inside. He wished to know and understand the mc who keeps on acting mysterious.
Now even though he desires to do all of these, he newer once, even attempted to try it. Because he knows that would hurt the mc. Like my man is a big puppy (or pig/hippo). He is extremely patient and tender in his treatment of the mc, he newer acts on his desires.
MC: Me and my love for scammed mc's against the world. Bro woke up in an unknown world and just started scamming his way through life, and in thay process he dragged out big puppy ML along with him. But our mc is mysterious even to us readers, we dont know a thing about him untill much later into the story, which hooked me from the start. Now though his character is the usual blueprint for scammed mc's there is just somethimg about him that takes him appart from most. And I literally cannot explain it in words, You'll have to read to figure it out. But I love this guy. And yall the reveals we get as the story progresses and we actually uncover what exactly our mc is, absolute cinema
And that concluded my ramble.

This is going to be a long ramble about how much I love Mo ran and how he deserves the world.
When i first started reading, i wouldn't say that i liked him. But he was SO DARN ENTERTAINING. From the very first page this man was cracking me up. I honestly didn't find any wrong in him happening to like shi mei, like he likes who he likes. Just because wanning liked him doesn't mean he had to like him back, i didn't dislike him for not like cwn back. Yeah, it was sad but i was kinda loving the whole one-sided thing. Then his absolutely disgusting first life was slowly revealed, and i wanted to shoot him for all he did to wanning. But yet again the bastard was so darn entertaining that i couldn't help but continue reading. Morally i hated his guts, but he was genuinely the only reason i continued to read.
And then everything was revealed, his past, his reasons, his sufferings. And dear god, i don't think i have cried that hard reading a book, man had me hyperventilating.
Mo ran is simplest character i have read. Meatbun was spot on when she called him a dumb dog. Give him the tiniest fraction of love and he will give u the moon. Give him a slap on the wrist and he'll break your bones.
I for my heart of heart genuinely believe that if Mo ran was allowed to grow without that damn flower, then he would have grown into becoming Mo zongshi, just a bit greyer perhaps but overall, the person in essence. Now then what about txj then?
TXJ is the personification of Mo rans love for Chu Wanning. TXJ EXISTS because mo ran sacrificed himself for chu wanning. Now, one thing i do believe is that mo ran probably did not 'love' chu wanning when he took that flower in his stead, at least not in the way he will come to love him in the future. I think it was more so along the lines of that, chu wanning was the first real safe harbor that he has had in his life after his mother. Mo ran felt safe with chu wanning, mo ran had received his first real title because of chu wanning. he was chu-zhongshis disciple. I dont think mo ran was mature enough to realize he was in love with cwn, given that he was a kid. Now this is purely my interpretation of it, people can have their own opinions. I dont claim mine to be true.
Now comes to the flower. FAR TOO MUCH OF THE COMMUNITY DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE IMPLICATIONS OF THIS FLOWER, everybody is so eager to blame most of the falut in mo ran, saying 'oh, he himself said that he has all those desires in his heart, the flower just amplified it'. To this id like to pose a question;
Have u newer had an impure thought?
When that one teacher keeps on taking away that one mark that would give u an A, have u newer once wished to shove that paper right into their face and scream? When u see your long-time crush with someone else, have u newer for your heart of heart thought of some way to break them up. I dont know about u, but i have. But will i ever act on these impulses? Newer.
Now just sit and think about mo ran. Son of a beggar with barely means to fill his stomach. He dragged his ded mothers body to bury her, even when he begged for help not a soul looked his way, locked in cage for a monstrous crime he newer dreamt to do as his fellow prisoners tries to harm him. If u were in that situation, would u have newer felt hate? newer had a thought to bring this cruel and unjust world to its knees? To rule over them?
The flower didnt just amplify hate, it erased the existence of everything but hate. The flower made it so he newer remembers any love or care, not even from his mom. He forgot the kindness in this world and was consumed by hate. And this hatred can spring from the simplest impulses, the flower grew these impulses until they transformed into seeds of hatred that consumed his life. He was literally NOT ALLOWED TO FEEL LOVE OR GIVE LOVE
But defying all that, he still fell in love with chu wanning.
He loved chu wanning with the only emotion he was allowed to feel, hate. He hated him like an obsession.
Mo ran newer truly hated chu wanning, not at the slightest. he has only ever loved him, but the flower erased every emotion save hate, what else could mo ran do but shover his beloved with storm of emotions in his heart, what was he to do when hate was the only thing he was allowed to give.
Mo ran hated chu wanning so much it killed him. Mo ran loved chu wanning so much is killed him.
What people forget is that Mo ran killed himself, this was literally unfathomable, even shi mei was utterly baffled at the turn of events. Mo ran found no purpose in existence, after chu wanning was gone. He is no way should feel like this, but he did. That was how much he loved him.
Mo ran my love u deserve the world and everything thats nice. U deserve a home. I love his character so much, because he has done some absolutely terrible things in his life, but he changes, he grows, he matures. Mo ran makes me believe, that everything will one day change for the better. He makes me believe that no matter how bad of a person i might be, i still have the ability to change. He makes me hope.
Mo ran is definitely my top 5 characters ever, not just in danmei. He is my favorite danmei character without a doubt.
