K2 plus refurbished- not starting out well.

K2 plus refurbished- not starting out well.

I got my new to me printer today. I wasn't convinced I should buy a refurbished machine, but went ahead with it.

So far it makes a really loud noise when going over the wiper and poop door. I'll get some video, but my phone is about dead.

It also concerns me that there is a scratch about an inch long on the build plate where it looks like the nozzle scratched it during the prime line. This makes me curious to something I can't find an answer to. How long should the prime line be? This is only laying down like an inch? I'm used to seeing a much longer prime pattern with every other printer I've used.

My first print is with a brand new roll of filament of some generic brand. This is at the .12 layer height. It looks like wet filament to me, but expected much better from a brand new spool.

Could this be just wet filament, or ruined nozzle due to crashing into the bed or crashing into something when it wipes?

I started it running a calibration and will see if anything changes.

Left lead screw rattle?

I just unboxed a refurb k2 plus combo from the creatlity ebay store.

It seems to be ok despite the horror stories I've heard. However I when the best moves up and down fast it the lead screw really rattles against the plastic bracket at the top of it. It gets louder as it gets toward the top.

It doesn't look bent or to be wobbling like my old enders, but it definitely isn't right.

Does anyone know of a short and sweet solution to this? I can post a video a bit later if this isn't a common problem.

eBay refurbished a gamble?

On eBay they have a $179 discount code that brings a refurbished k2 plus combo down to $800 shipped.

Refurbished always feels like a gamble to me. I'm not sure saving the few hundred dollars is worth the possible headaches and I know product support is crap.

I've usually had good luck with refurbished things, but not sure about creality

Thanks

New Chaos boards are inbound!

I've had a lot of people asking me, so I'd might as well post the info here. I've been trying to not jump into the middle of other people promoting their new boards, but I will anyway. I think today I need to start bragging about myself and my products so everyone knows what they'll get when they purchase a Chaos boards!

Remember, I'm a big part of the reason 10.5 bps is a thing. I helped ruin the sport, but I'm still here.

Yes, I am making new boards. I've been selling and servicing boards for 25 years. These will be the same quality and service as the others.

Currently there are Alias format, Dm3, Cocker prototypes in the world. I created the original Pandora AKA board and now I'll bring them into current standards. It was trusted by Larry to be the stock board sold in all AKA markers.

Without giving too much away, here are the facts.

Bluetooth....

EDIT..... iPhone is in addition to Android and Windows. I don't think name other boards offer iPhone, so I am...

But with iPhone app.. Or you can save some cash for a version without the BT.

Oled screen

All the usual settings available through the screen or app.

Assembled by mostly me to aerospace standards. I've personally built electronics that flew on the Global Hawk uav and and other defense systems. I'm not just some guy in it for the money grab. This is my day job and I've been doing it for my career and paintball hobby for 25 years.

People that are teaching themselves how to assemble boards so they can be first to market and grab your cash doesn't mean they'll be reliable. Sure, I like money, but my products will be affordable and accessible to everyone.

Products come with a lifetime warranty. I've recently repaired boards that I built in 2003.

You can spend your money on the first shiny things, or you can support the company that's been supporting players and it's products for years.

Thanks for your time and I appreciate you taking the time to listen.

Edit...... Yes I will need some beta testers, but won't have a whole lot of extra boards to send it to people.

Second, other designs will come soon. I need to see what the market needs. Message me with your ideas and if I get enough interest I'll look at making them.

When do you want to be able to read your screen?

The screen on a board is probably the biggest power draw on a paintball board. I see a lot of complaints about batteries dying quickly, so I'm brainstorming ideas about how to manage that.

To me, I turn the gun on and verify settings, then never really look at the screen again. I don't look at shot counters or anything whole actually on the field.

I was thinking to turn the screen off while the gun is firing above a certain bps?

Are there any other scenarios that you can think of putting the screen to sleep would be beneficial?

So say you want to buy a new board. How much does Bluetooth functionality weigh in on your decision to purchase?

Would you rather have a lower priced board without it?

Say that you could buy the same board that can be purchased with or without BT. Without the BT the board could still be programmed through the menu, but would be maybe $50 cheaper. It would be the exact same board, but without the bt installed onto the pcb.

If you decided you did want bt later on, you could send the board in and have bt installed for an upgrade?

What do you think?
