I have started to get into the meshtastic with my heltec v4 at the beginning I was at home on the countryside with no nodes near me and after I moved to the city I have had a lot more near me and I even received messages on a general public channel. But I could not send messages or nobody received my messages (“Maximum retransmission limit reached”)

So what I think the problem is that my heltec v4 is running on a older firmware(Beta/Stable 2.7.15) so I wanted to update the firmware to the newest alpha version (2.7.23.b246bcd Alpha)

But after selecting the right port/device (picture 1) and in the top right it says disconnected while connecting to device….. and after 2-4 min I only get error messages (see pictures 2 and 3)
I have tried different browsers,laptops,cables but nothing worked so far since I loaded the device with the firmware when I got it.

Maybe I don’t even have to update my firmware but only my antenna but ima only a beginner speculating.

I have successfully set up the app (hopefully correctly) and I am just not seeing any other node in my area maybe it is because the antenna is to weak or I just live in a area with no other nooses.

Also I don’t know how far my signal goes
I am using device set to client role
Region role EU 868MHz and long range fast.

I am thinking of changing my antenna to the antenna I have from my wildlife camera but I don’t know if i will brake something (because I don’t know how strong the antenna is and what my heltec v4 can handle).

I have stumbled into the world of meshtastic by pure accident and I want to be part of this community
I have looked on Amazon for a cheap nod to get me started.
But I have looked at a map with nods and the closest one to me is around 20km(air distance) so I am not sure if I installed my nod at home it would even reach anyone. (Maybe I need to get a stronger antenna but I am not sure if it would even work because there are a lot of hills.

So does anyone has an idea to my situation or advice?
