TIFU by trying to make vegan white chocolate ganache for the first time ever

I’m test baking my own birthday cake. it’s going to be chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream, with raspberry compote and white chocolate ganache. I’ve never made ganache before, let alone white chocolate. So I google a recipe, google vegan white chocolate chips, bada bing bada boom, I’m stirring up what I think is gonna be vegan white chocolate ganache.

Well, stupid me didn’t even verify that what I bought had cacao in it. So I’m just stirring coconut cream with basically hydrogenated oils, syrups and sugar. Now I have this grey syrup. It doesn’t taste horrific, but it looks gross. Is there anything I can do with this?

Also, does anyone have any good recommendations for vegan white chocolate that actually has a high percent of cacao? I’m not too worried about my cake since I wasn’t supposed to assemble until tomorrow anyway. And if I don’t get a ganache in time, I’ll just test it without and make another test in a few weeks.

I have been developing a vegan chocolate chip cookie recipe. Would you be interested in trying?

I would love to get feedback on this cookie recipe I’ve developed, especially any tweaks or suggestions. My goal was to get to as close to the perfect cookie as I possibly could (perfect in my personal taste).

Some stipulations:

  • Before I was vegan, I loved browned butter cookies. I wanted to maintain the essence of this flavor
  • Cookies must be craveable and addicting. I shouldn’t want to stop after 1-2
  • Ingredients should be as close to pantry staples as possible and accessible for non-vegans
  • This recipe is NOT HEALTHY. All I cared about was flavor, texture and beauty. Go somewhere else for a healthy cookie

Also, I’m not a food influencer or anything. I’ve been developing this recipe because I love making cookies and that’s it. I host the recipe on my personal website so it’s easier to share.

What is this U-shaped, metal bracket or accessory? Or what does it go to?

I’m trying to solve a mystery for my mom. She believed she purchased it between 2016 and 2020. Can anyone tell us what it is?

Description: Wide, u-shaped metal accessory with two screw holes on each side. They come in packs of two with eight total pointed screws and a small screwdriver. The photos show the metal accessories outside of the package as well as a version packaged. My mom currently has two sets, but unsure what they original go to or their purpose.

thanks in advance :)

edit: my mom had edits haha

I live in the same city as Dolarhyde in Red Dragon by Thomas Harris.

I just have to talk about this. It doesn’t have to be horror per se, but has anyone ever read a book where they live in the same area as a main character?

While the area is different than it was in the 80s when the book is set, it was uncanny reading about all the same streets and landmarks that I drive by frequently. I am pretty sure I know the exact area that Dolarhyde’s house is supposed to be at, and it could be just minutes from where I live.

Has anyone else experienced this?
