House Dawnsorrow

House Dawnsorrow, once known as House Dawnshaper, was a lesser noble house of craftsmen and traders that resided on the outskirts of Windrunner Village in Quel’Thalas. Their family was respected for its skill in producing magical goods, but like so many others, they were shattered during Arthas’ invasion of the kingdom.

The eldest son, Varimor Dawnshaper, was a renowned bladesmith and enchanter who eventually became a spellbreaker in the Thalassian military. He served under Illidan and Kael’thas during the assault on the Frozen Throne. There, Varimor made the ultimate sacrifice when protecting his fellow spellbreaker, Lyrendis. As the undending swarm of undead closed in around him, he saw that Lyrendis was pinned down and unarmed. In a last ditch attempt to safe her, he threw her his glaive. This selfless act allowed her to cut a path through the ghouls that surrounded her and make a run for the portal back to Outland. The last thing she saw was Varimor's tower shield shattering and him being burried alive under countless rotting corpses. Inspired by Varimor’s sacrifice, she returned to Quel’thalas with his ruined glaive as an eternal reminder. She was no longer being driven by vengeance, but by a desire to protect. She joined the Blood Knights, seeking to use the powers of the light to heal her people’s scars.

Varimor’s younger sister, Kelestria, survived the Scourge invasion only because she had been sent away to study among the magisters of Silvermoon. Once a reckless and decadent socialite known more for partying and causing trouble than discipline, her father hoped distance and magical studies would force her to mature. From high among the spires of Silvermoon, she witnessed the destruction of her homeland and the near extinction of her people. This changed her forever. Terrified of ever being a powerless bystander again, Kelestria turned to forbidden magic and learned how to summon and control demonic beings from the twisting nether.

Unknown to his surviving allies, Varimor did not remain dead. He was raised into undeath as a death knight and served the Scourge loyally for years. It wasn't until the battle at Light’s Hope that he regained his free will. When Kelestria and Lyrendis learned that their brother and friend still “lived,” they sought him out. Though changed by death and bound to the curse of undeath, Varimor returned to Quel’Thalas and formally declared House Dawnshaper a broken house. In honor of all they had lost, he renamed their family to House Dawnsorrow, taking the name as his own.

The trio reclaimed the ruined ancestral manor and rebuilt it into the seat of their reformed house. Lyrendis, who dedicated herself to healing and protecting others, served as the compassionate heart that balanced Varimor’s cold pragmatism and Kelestria’s darker ambitions. With the house reclaimed, Lyrendis revealed that she held on to Varimor's old glaive for all these years and offered it back to the Death Knight. He refused it at first, explaining that this part of him had died in Northrend. The glaive became a symbol for the house instead, hanging on the wall above their planning table... Always in sight. Always waiting.

Their final member joined them during the Legion invasion. In Suramar, the group discovered Astrolon, a Nightborne who had fallen into a near-Withered state after losing access to the Nightwell's magical energies. Remembering their own suffering after the destruction of the Sunwell combined with Lyrendis’ compassion led to the trio helping him survive long enough to witness the salvation brought about by the Arcan’dor. Revitalized and forever grateful, Astrolon pledged himself to House Dawnsorrow. Acting as the group’s historian, telemancer, and arcane scholar, he possesses an almost childlike fascination with Varimor’s undead condition... often studying him like a living experiment, much to the death knight’s annoyance.

As time went on and Varimor reconnected with his Thalassian heritage, he decided it was time to pick up the glaive once more. Not as the spellbreaker that he once was and not as the death knight that he had been made into. But as the undying guardian of Quel'thalas that he had chosen to be. The glaive was reforged by his hand, combining ancient Thalassian smithing techniques with the runeforges of Acherus. He made it longer than the one he used in life to better suit his fighting style as a death knight and infused with the essence of lingering wraiths. The result was a wraithforged battleglaive that existed both in the world of the living and the realm of the dead. Neither fully alive, nor dead. Like its master.

United by tragedy, loyalty, and a shared sense of purpose, the four elves now operate from Dawnsorrow Manor in the Ghostlands. House Dawnsorrow has devoted itself to hunting down the lingering remnants of the Scourge and slowly reclaiming the Ghostlands for the living. From threats lurking beyond the kingdom’s borders to corruption festering within, the house stands vigilant in defense of the Sin'dorei… fighting to one day restore Quel’Thalas to its former glory.

Got the two handed glaive today and dicovered that wraithchill allows me to use it on my DK's mog :)

u/venusaurus — 16 days ago

There are multiple belts in the game that would match this mog perfectly, but pretty much all of them either cause clipping issues or stretch the textures beyond recognition.

These 3 belts are the only ones that don't cause major issues, but I can't decide on which one I like the best. I've probably been starting at this mog for too long, so I'm once again asking for your help!
