Review: SKIMS Lightweight Thong 10-pack

a follow up to this post. honestly, i had very little hope that they would actually honour this given the insane mispricing, so imagine my surprise when this package showed up in the mail. i’ve never really done a brand review of anything so be patient with me, but here are my thoughts.

pricing: the deal was for 3 for $39, and with tax and shipping the total came out to $49.81. that puts it at $1.66/pair, which is still pretty unbeatable pricing. my roommate was absolutely floored when i told him how much i got them all for.

appearance: well, they’re thongs. i feel like the sides are a bit thinner than the images suggest but maybe that’s just me. i’m also not crazy about the patterns but i plan to use this as daily underwear and not date night underwear, so nobody has to see it except for me.

sizing: i usually wear a small or medium, but they were out of mediums when i got to the site so i ended up ordering 3 sets of smalls. i was worried they would be too tight or not have enough coverage, doubly so because i saw people in the comments saying they usually order a size up from SKIMS, but they fit perfectly, which leads me to

fit/comfort: honestly, great. i’ve been wearing them for the past couple days and i have no complaints. they don’t ride up, and i haven’t had to adjust them throughout the day at all. i tried on a pair under a couple of my dresses with the most unforgiving fabrics and there were no VPL to be seen. i was genuinely impressed, since in my experience finding a thong that doesn’t show under thin fabric and also isn’t trying to part your cheeks with the intensity of Moses parting the Red Sea is exceptionally rare.

quality: decent. i’d need to wear them for much longer than a couple days to determine how long they actually hold up for, but i inspected the seams of all the pairs in one of the boxes and nothing looks amiss. the temperature has been in the mid 90s (mid 30s for you celsius users) for the past few days, and i’ve spent a decent amount of that time outside, so i can confirm that the lightweight cotton is, in fact, quite breathable.

conclusion: though it was likely a mistake to begin with, this was an incredible deal. i’ll more than likely be rotating out all of my ‘daily use’ underwear for these pairs. would i buy it at full price? probably not, but as the subreddit would suggest, i’m quite frugal. i’ve had many of my current pairs of underwear for several years and i intend to make use of these new pairs for several more. would i buy underwear from SKIMS on a regular sale? most likely yes. i’m seriously considering getting a few of the nude thongs in my skin tone while the regular sale is still going on. however, if the same mistake happens to be made again, would i recommend jumping on it to others? absolutely, no question. it’s basically impossible to find underwear at $1.66/pair, let alone a decent thong.

edit: the comments have brought to my attention that SKIMS actively launched operations in Israel mid-genocide, and while i was already not a huge fan of the kardashian-jenner clan and thus hadn’t made any purchases from them previously, i find this to be particularly inexcusable and will not be purchasing anything from them in the future. i stand by everything else i’ve said here though. at the end of the day, i got this underwear at or below factory cost due to their error and i’m not gonna return it just so they can resell it for full price.

overall i give this 4/5 stars. i owe my thanks to u/Speekgeech for posting about this deal, and to the algorithm for having it be the first and only post from this sub that ended up on my reddit feed.

Unsure what to prioritise

howdy GPGP enjoyers, i’m a newer player for GPGP+ and I’ve reached a point where I don’t really know what the best use of my gems would be. so far i have just over half of the autobuddies and am consistently tempted to keep buying more, but since I’m on the Apple Arcade version of the game I don’t have the means to get gems as easily as players in the regular game due to both the limited number of chapters released in the version and lack of ads to watch. if my math is correct I should be able to buy 2-3 more with the achievement gems available to me currently but doing so will be an extreme grind after the next one is purchased, and I also have the ability to unlock my third garden plot. I also LOVE decorating my pizzeria, it’s what I live and breathe for in most games. should I focus on unlocking autobuddies as soon as possible, upgrading the garden then pivoting to autobuddies or saving for events?

tl;dr i’m poor and will stay poor; autobuddies, garden, or events?

i’ve been growing out my hair for the first time in 15 years and i’m kind of at a loss. i had shaved down sides with the top at cheekbone length for over a decade and it was relatively easy to maintain, but even at that length it never really held any styles for long without liberal hairspray usage, and now that it’s longer my old shampoo and conditioner aren’t really doing what i need them to be doing.

i keep my hair in a high bun so that it doesn’t overheat me or tangle when i’m asleep, and i really like the way it looks (most of the time anyway) when it’s fresh out of that bun, but if i don’t use an entire can of hairspray it only lasts for about an hour (the last two photos were taken about an hour apart). after that, it becomes fluffy and unmanageable. the same eventually happens even when i wear my hair straight; my hair seems determined to be as fluffy as possible. alas, i’ve been out of the game so long that i have no idea what products i should even begin to look at, and while i have the budget to try some relatively nice products, i don’t have the money to experiment too much. while my hair was shorter i mostly used lightweight volumizing shampoos and conditioners, and currently i’m using ogx thick & full shampoo and conditioner which i imagine is contributing to some of my problems.

my hair is as straight as it comes, medium-fine, high scalp density, low porosity, completely virgin and i don’t use any heat styling at all outside of the rare special occasion. so onto what i’m trying to achieve - i want to maintain the volume at the top of my head if possible (and can do so with styling if i must) but i want the rest of my hair to give more “sleek and shiny” and less “brushed out show poodle.” i would also REALLY like any advice on how to make heatless styling last longer without gassing myself to an early grave, if such a product exists. lastly, i would like brush recommendations. i’ve been using a comb for the past 15 years and i genuinely don’t know what kind of brush i should even be using.

any advice is appreciated, my hair has been so low maintenance for so long that actually having to try at it is extremely daunting.

tl;dr need recs for shampoo, conditioner, heatless styling product and hair brush
