Soooo... is tumblr ever going to address this terrifying bot network
A recent example of what a bot posted on a pic of BTS i reblogged
I've been plagued by these bots for the last 2-3 months and it's horrible. They threaten very graphic sexual assault/rape threats, threaten to decapitate and leave my dead body in the garbage, call me a pedophile and a groomer, say I deserved to be SA'd as a child, etc.
I have no idea what I interacted with on tumblr to make them go after me, but it's been 2-3 months of relentlessly reblogging everything I reblog, or them reblogging everything I post and added horrible stuff. They reblog random stuff from me - both my original posts and posts I reblog (which then further target other blogs).
I know they're not directly targeting me because I've seen other blogs be targeted by them, before and after, with the exact same stuff said.
Apparently it was a bot system meant "just for" people who have bad political opinions.
BUT THATS THE THING: I don't reblog or interact with anything like that.
My blog is purposefully APOLITICAL.
These bots are also definitely hitting trans users and minors (both cis and trans) just as bad.
It's been going for the last year, maybe even two years. There's a "pause" in them, but they re-up twice as bad. They all have similar usernames like pikachupregnancy76 and pregnantpikachu82 - it often uses sexual words with Nintendo characters or common furry fandom animals.
I've seen an instance where one of the empty blogs make a inflammatory post about another blog, and then in the notes you see 1,000+ reblogs from similar empty blogs with no comments/tags/etc added. The URLs are nearly identical, just order or the number changed. a huge amount of them use the same drawing of Eevee from Pokémon
It's very clear this is a botting issue. I report for spam and nothing gets done.
I report for sexual content and nothing gets done.
I report for threats of violence.
And. Nothing. Gets. Done.
I used to check my blog 2-4 times a day and block and report them. When I was on it like this, I'd only get 1-3 blogs.
But I recently turned my queue off and left it, about 10+ of them hit me and go after specific posts I've reblogged (and again, then they target the OP of the post).
Do you think tumblr is EVER going to address these? I think it's really unfair because the only solution I feel like I have now is to delete this blog (an account I've had since 2015), which I don't want to do because I can't remake a new blog.
Leaving my blog alone doesn't help, because they'll just go deeper in my blog and continue to reblog stuff I've reblogged. Again I've had my blog since 2015, and I have like at least 10,000 posts (mostly reblogs.)
I can't even comfortably leave my blog alone because I hate what they do to blogs I follow. They say such horrific stuff and minors get targeted by them as well.
Does Tumblr literally not care? Can users even stop this once it starts?
(Also I say I cant remake a new blog because I did make a new account in 2025, but THAT got immediately deleted for supposedly "violating Tumblr's spam rules" even though my new blog was deleted before I could even finish Tumblr's tutorial on how to use the site. I emailed back and forth with them, and Tumblr decided they wouldn't give access to it because it apparently violated Tumblr's TOS that badly... Yet there's at least 3,000 [probably 10,000] of these empty bot blogs????)
