Adulting really makes you see stories & serials from different perspectives. When I used to watch YRKKH Gen-1 back in the day when it was on air, I used to have a very different thinking about Akshara always trying to follow & coax her MIL ( Gayatri ) over petty things when the other person used to get upset about it. When I see it now, I sometimes understand her pov. Back then, my thinking was why Akshara is not saying something to that woman who is creating a whole scene & sulking out of nowhere. Now, I think, the girl didn't had much options.
The environment she was brought up in always taught her to shut up whenever some elder is speaking, even if the person is speaking shit & unnecessary things that is just minor issues. She was being groomed to get married since she was a teenager. ( she was 19 when she got married )
Her evolvement was what made me like her character. A woman who used to fear that she will fail in her 12th exam turned into a person who took care of her whole family & business when her husband was in coma ( though she had help from her family). Her turning from a shy & under confident girl to a confident & outspoken woman is what makes it better.
Though I agree she was definitely a Mahaan, hypocrite & trying to be a too good person. I don't like that version of her, but I appreciate her evolvement. Where woman in shows turns into doormats from being a confident, strong, & opinionated ones after their marriage. Ex- Naira
She turned into otherwise. I liked her compatibility with Naitik. They both were flawed characters but the best part was their characters had growth & they learnt from their mistakes most of time.
