Vimeo in 2026 so far: 50+ improvements, 100+ bugs fixed

Hey everyone—

For the past four months, we’ve been building improvements to Vimeo directly from your feedback. And today, we've officially passed 50 improvements.

So here’s a recap of the biggest ones, and what they mean for you.

⚡ Vimeo is up to 1.7x faster

Full writeup →

Upload a video: 25% faster* Videos uploading used to queue in single file. Now they process at the same time, and each one appears in your library as soon as it's ready.

Loading the homepage: 41% faster*, Opening a manage video page: 39% faster* Previously, Vimeo loaded everything on a page at once, regardless of importance. Now the content you came to see loads first, and everything else runs after.

Searching in a folder: 23% faster* For large libraries, the old search was scanning everything on every query. We rebuilt it to pull from a smaller, purpose-built database instead.

Taken together, Vimeo is now up to 1.7x faster across the board*. And we're far from done.

✍️ A new, simplified Vimeo Review

Full writeup →

Leave feedback without an account Anyone with your link can comment, whether they have a Vimeo account or not—no sign-up, no friction.

Fast, flexible commenting Comments now have timestamps, emoji reactions, and clickable links. (And they load faster.)

Easier review link setup With default settings, auto-naming, and a simplified link management flow, creating and managing review links now takes seconds.

👤 Your profile page rebuilt from scratch

Full writeup →

You control your videos' order Previously, a new upload wouldn't follow your sort order and you'd have to manually fix it. Now uploads slot in automatically.

More of your work gets seen We changed the grid from 2 videos per row to 3, so more of your work shows on first load. Thumbnails also loop on hover so visitors get a quick preview before clicking anything.

Simple, high-impact customisation Dark mode for viewers. Smoother section management. Make meaningful changes to your profile without needing design experience.

A refreshed design Cleaner layout, refreshed font, and visuals that keeps your videos front and centre.

📁 A faster Library

Smart video upload Drag and drop a new video onto your homepage—or directly into a library folder. While it's uploading, you can start adjusting settings, see its file size, and reach its management page directly.

New privacy options Privacy icons on video thumbnails show you their setting at a glance. Click to edit privacy directly from the thumbnail, without opening the video page. We also added an 'Anyone at my company' setting for easy internal sharing.

🖼️ Easier Showcase management

Add content in fewer steps Add videos to a showcase straight from the ••• menu. Turn a folder into a showcase directly.

Duplicate and search Duplicate any showcase from the ••• menu for easy iterations. Search for a specific showcase directly—no more scrolling through everything.

🌐 Bulk translations with more languages

From 7 languages to 99 Auto-captions used to cover 7 languages. Translation covered 37. Both now cover 99.

Translate in bulk Translation used to be video by video. Now bulk-select videos—or use the Translate folder option—to translate whole libraries in one go.

🛠️ BONUS: 100+ bugs fixed

Alongside all of these improvements, we've quietly fixed more than 100 bugs across all areas of the product. You can see the full list here. Before any new feature, giving you a platform that works reliably is priority number one.

You can see more details on all the improvements at vimeo.com/product-updates.

More updates on your way very soon. Let me know in the thread what you want to see next!

We're making Vimeo faster for you

- - - MAJOR PERFORMANCE UPDATE - - -

We're making Vimeo faster for you ⚡

Hey everyone,

Right after releasing our major overhaul to Vimeo Review and the rebuilt Profile page, we’re back with our biggest performance improvement in years.

Vimeo is now up to 1.7x faster. Here are the full numbers:

  1. ⬆️ 25% faster video uploads* — parallel processing means multiple files now move through the pipeline at the same time, not one by one.
  2. 🔍 23% faster library search* — results load significantly quicker, so finding what you need takes less time.
  3. 🏠 41% faster homepage load* — the first content you see when you open Vimeo now appears much faster.
  4. ▶️ 39% faster manage video pages* — less latency when you land on a video.

This is part of an ongoing effort to speed up every part of Vimeo, and we’re far from done. You can see our full progress here: https://vimeo.com/blog/post/vimeo-speed-improvements

And of course, if there’s a specific moment in Vimeo that still feels slow to you, let us know below, and we’ll get to work on trying to fix it 🫡

You can follow all the improvements we’re making at vimeo.com/product-updates.

Cheers,

Ricky

Weekly improvement thread 👉 progress bars when optimizing + set privacy during upload

Hey everyone,

Our goal is to release improvements in Vimeo every week—sometimes they'll be big, sometimes small, yet always designed to impact how you're using the platform.

Two improvements this week:

You can now see progress when your video is optimizing

No more waiting and wondering if your new upload's working. We've added real-time progress indicators when optimizing videos, with the option to cancel or retry if something's off-track.

🔒 Change video settings during upload

We've redesigned the video upload modal with clearer information and useful actions, so you can quickly and easily manage your new videos.

  • We've fixed the ability to edit a video's privacy while it's uploading
  • You can now see file size during upload
  • As soon as a video's ready, you have the option to edit it directly

Our aim is to release meaningful improvements to the platform every week — you can follow along at https://vimeo.com/product-updates!

Drop any feedback or requests below — we always read them!

- - - MAJOR UPDATE ANNOUNCEMENT - - -

Hey everyone! After our major overhaul to Vimeo Review last week, I’m back with another heavily requested update.

After 10 years, the entire Vimeo Profile page has been rebuilt from scratch!

You told us that the profile page looked too much like a video library, rather than somewhere to really show off your work.

And after looking at each piece of feedback, we landed on a new design that fixes as many of your issues as possible (and saves you waiting ages for it).

So here’s everything that’s changed:

  1. A refreshed design: made to look cleaner, and keep the focus on your work.
  2. Automatic sorting (finally): now, when you upload a new video, it’ll follow your sorting order automatically, so you don’t have to re-sort every time you upload.
  3. Looping thumbnails: we actually released these a few weeks ago, but we’ve fully integrated them into the new design.
  4. Dark mode for viewers: if you have dark mode on, other people looking at your profile will now see it in dark mode (and vice versa).
  5. More videos visible on first load: the masonry tiles are smaller now (3 per row instead of 2), so way more of your work is visible at first glance.
  6. Sections are simpler to manage: try it for yourself! Creating or changing sections around is so much easier than before.

👉 You can watch the video in Vimeo here.

To see your new profile page, you can click your profile picture in the top right, then click View profile under your name.

We’re trying to release improvements to Vimeo every week that actually make a difference to you, which is why they’re all coming straight from your feedback.

Of course, if there's anything else you want to see improved—whether in profiles or anywhere else—let us know below. We always read these threads.

You can follow everything at vimeo.com/product-updates.

Cheers,

Ricky

Hey everyone!

After a busy few months (where we released new engagement analytics, bulk translation and more)...

We're back with a major improvement to video reviews:

You no longer need an account to comment on a review link.

This means you can get feedback from anyone with your link, whether they're on Vimeo or not. No more frustrated clients hitting login walls. When you send someone a review link, you know they'll be able to access it - and start commenting - in seconds.

But that's not all.

This week, we also added emoji reactions to comments, so you can quickly acknowledge or respond to a comment, without having to type out a full reply.

These are the final touches in our ongoing effort to make video reviews feel simple and straightforward, for you and your clients.

👉 You can see the new, simplified Vimeo Review here.

In fact, in the last 2 months, we've made 7 major improvements to video reviews:

  1. People without a Vimeo account can leave feedback
  2. All comments now have timestamps, for more precise feedback
  3. Default settings on review links, so they take seconds to set up
  4. Your other videos don’t show up at the end of a review link
  5. Comments load much faster
  6. Comments have clickable links (and emoji reactions), for easy references and quick acknowledgements
  7. It takes fewer clicks to reach a review link

👉 To see more info on all the changes, go here.

Our aim is to release meaningful improvements to Vimeo every week, all of which we build directly from your feedback.

So if there are any other improvements you'd benefit from - whether in video reviews or elsewhere - please let us know in the thread, and I guarantee we'll see it!

To stay up to date with everything we're releasing, you can visit our product updates page.

See you in the next update!
