Just found out I have PTC how to cope?

I’m 9 months postpartum. I have a beautiful baby girl 9 months old.

Found 2 nodules on my thyroid in March, one was large and biopsy was indeterminate so I decided to take it out.

Had a total thyroidectomy last week and today the pathology showed PTC confined to thyroid

How do I deal with it? I’m scared as hell. Will I be like this forever now? Scared of everything?

3 days post-op TT

Had a total thyroidectomy done 3 days ago. And just wanted to share if anyone is in the trenches

Surgery was 3 hours, I was kept one night at the hospital for observations

First night home was very hard coz of only oral pain killers.

The pain is not bad at the incision area but it’s definitely very bad and uncomfortable at the back of my neck. (I guess it’s coz of how they keep you during the surgery)

Sleeping in propped up position for the first few days is ideal, although my surgeon cleared me to sleep in any position I’m comfortable in. Swallowing is getting better.

Because of the intubation tube, you may have cough and phlegm for the first 4-5 days post surgery. Sipping on something hot helps else it hurts to cough.

Anyone has any questions, I’m happy to answer

Good luck to anyone in the same position

Post op suggestions for TT

I have a total thyroidectomy scheduled day after tomorrow. What are your post-op tips and tricks for easier and faster recovery.

I have a 8 month old, I wanna recover quick so I can start caring for her.

I won’t be starting hormone replacement until the biopsy results come in which can be like a week or so

Full thyrodectomy suggested

I’m 8 months postpartum and recently found a nodule on my thyroid. It’s growing rapidly (which I believed was coz of postpartum hormones) but my provider doesn’t think so.

I got ultrasound done (nodule TR-3, 3 cm large) and fine needle biopsy done. The results of biopsy were indeterminate

Even with indeterminate results and just by looking at the ultrasound images my doctor is recommending to remove the entire thyroid (a total thyrodectomy) I don’t know the details yet coz I just received this call and was asked to come in today and discuss it in person. I have an appointment later today.

Is this normal? Can they just look at ultrasound and make a diagnosis and decision? Even when the biopsy was indeterminate?

What should I do? I’m spiraling and my ENT had already referred me to the surgeon. No one seems to be interested in more testing first

7 months postpartum and I recently went to my PCP for a health checkup and she noticed my thyroid feels enlarged so she asked me to go for an ultrasound.

Ultrasound found that I have 2 thyroid nodules TR-3 and TR-4. The TR-4 is small less than a cm so the doctors are not showing concerns about it but I have a large TR-3 nodules on the right side of my thyroid.

Went in for a biopsy and the results were indeterminate but I’m spiraling coz the ENT feels that it’s firm and growing and he thinks it’s malignant.

I’m so freaked out and scared. I have a 7 month old baby girl and my mind keeps thinking of the worst.

I’m recommended to get the nodule surgically removed soon. Have an appointment scheduled for a surgeon consultation soon.

Any positive words will really help. Thanks in advance
