Hello everyone. I am getting a custom signet ring done. We had agreed on a solid gold ring but yesterday the artisan reached out and said he cannot do solid due to it taking a lot of material so he “hallowed briefly on the inside”.

These were the prices given to me: $1700 for 14k 10.7g / $2200 for 18k 12.9g.

I do not know what these images mean , I would’ve preferred it to be solid so I can pass it as an heirloom piece.

I also am not getting a textured band , the final product will be polished.

My questions are : Are signet rings hallowed? How hallowed is it? With it being hallowed , will it still be able to become an heirloom piece ?

I’ve reached out to him but have not received a reply.
