Lifetime earning of 5 cr stuck. Need advice from experienced distributors/business owners
I’ve been a distributor for a well-known consumer-products company for around 18 years. The company has now terminated the arrangement, leaving us with approximately ₹5.10 crore exposure:
- ₹3.70 crore stock
- ₹1.40 crore market outstanding
We’ve been asked to recover the outstanding within a short timeframe, but there are many long-standing dealers involved.
At the same time, there is no clear mechanism yet for stock return/takeover or settlement. We have been bearing the cost of godown and staff. We have send over 5 emails in 2 weeks to almost the top of hierarchy but no response yet on the email since.
What would you suggest?
- How should I protect myself legally and commercially?
- How should stock and market outstanding be handled after termination?
- Should I approach a lawyer immediately?
I’m intentionally not naming the company at this stage. Looking for advice from anyone who has faced a similar situation.
