Moving from Michigan to LA

As the title says, I'm looking to move to LA from Michigan.

I currently live with family and only pay roughly $600 in bills. I would ideally like to move early/mid 2027. I've been visiting LA pretty much every year since 2018 because of friends in the area. I was looking into moving to ktown just because of the slightly more manageable cost of living, ideally stay under the $1,700 range for rent. The plan is to set aside $1,000-$1,500 a month to save and have (at least) 10k set aside for a deposit, first month's rent, and any other necessities needed when first moving across the country. I won't be paying for movers and just starting over while taking what I can on a flight, maybe ship some other things if needed. Any answers and/or advice would be appreciated.

- Ideal would like to make at least $3.5k-4k a month (post tax) at a full-time job at least, while also supplementing my income with other means that currently make me $500-1.5k a month. Does this seem manageable with a max $1,700/month rent in ktown?

- Is March-April a good time to move to LA or should I wait till later in the year? Or try to move earlier, like January-February time?

- Would it be worth it to spend time and money on flying to LA before moving to apartment hunt or see if a friend would be willing to go for me and just FaceTime them as they walk the apartments?

- This will be my first time living on my own and I will be starting over completely in another state across the country. Any advice is appreciated :D

Support Squad

This might be a super silly question. I'm like 99% sure I already applied for Support Squad weeks ago a shortly after the applications opened but I'm also doubting myself on if I actually submitted it because I've spent this past month preparing for Electric Forest so it's all a blur. Is there a way to check if I did submit it or an email I could reach out to? Or should I apply again just in case?

Support Squad

this might be a silly question but if you’re selected for support squad do you still have to have a ticket to the festival or do they cover that for you?

Space for 1

hey friends, does anyone by chance have room for one (with one or two bags) in their car going to the fest on Wednesday and driving through the detroit area? Will gladly chip in for gas! I’m staying in a bnb in muskegon with a friend from out of state and i don’t drive myself personally🫧

Advice for a newbie

I live in michigan just 30 minutes southwest of Detroit. This will be my first forest and i’ll be staying with someone in their hotel (in Muskegon) who’s coming from out of state. What would be the best way of getting out towards the festival? Would it be best to do the official shuttle from detroit to the forest and ride share from the forest to the hotel (if that’s even possible?) Or should I try to find someone driving from the detroit area that would be willing to car pool and split gas money?

Also any other advice for a new comer for the festival itself would be greatly appreciated <3

I received a request to house sit for two nights (Friday in the morning till Sunday morning) in the future with 3 dogs and 2 cats. They also mentioned reptiles that would need some minor light care. I don’t mind the dogs and cats but never took care of reptiles. I’m not uncomfortable with it just unfamiliar. I plan on asking all the care the reptiles would need but should I charge more for it?

My rates currently are pretty low since I’m still new and trying to build a rapport and clientele but I’m open to advice.

Someone reached out to me asking about a house sitting for a weekend next month on Tuesday. I was deathly sick and had slept for 30 hours straight, only waking up here and there. So I didn't see their message till Wednesday. I answered her questions and offered to do a M&G, but she never responded. I followed up today with a simple message along the lines of "if you're still interested, please let me know!" and still haven't heard back.

Would it be wrong of me to achieve the request since it's been 3 days with no response? Especially since Rover says I may not show up in searches for the days they requested. Does it affect my acceptance rate since they ghosted me?
