Any professionals? Advice?

I feel so strange trying to be the "professional" everyone wants me to be. Think medical doctoral program type stuff. I'm supposed to tone myself down so much I dont recognize myself half the time. My piercings are "unprofessional", my hair is "unprofessional", my makeup is "unprofessional", genuinely everything I am is what they hate. It's not like my eyeliner is affecting my ability to care for my patients, nor is it an infection / safety risk in this scenario. I would feel differently if I were in surgery or somewhere higher-risk than sitting at a computer all day. Our nurses get much more leeway despite having way more direct patient interaction 💀

I understand that there is a certain image that we have to uphold of ourselves but man... I wish I could feel like a human at work/ class sometimes. This is genuinely so depressing sometimes lol. I didnt't realize my worth would be determined by how I'm percieved rather than the actual knowledge/value I bring to my team going into this.

Does anyone else relate? How do you get through this? black / colored scrubs and a badge reel are about as far as Ive been able to push it.

Goth but outdoorsy

Yes my makeup is melted and my bangs are annoyingly glued to my forehead but I will still be going on a hike to look for critters in this 100° weather. Looking for something not too "hippie". Photos are just from pinterest.

TIA!

I REALLY wanted a jar

This is crackers, pickle relish, and cheese. Not pictured is the fistful of cheese eaten just before pic taken.

Decided I must have an empty jar RIGHT NOW so I could begin a sourdough starter. Relish jar was the easiest culprit. The cheese makes it feel like I tried.
