Cold DMs for a local service business — worth it, or waste of time?

Working on lead gen for my videography business (weddings/brand films/small and local business video for socials) in a smaller market, and I’ve built out offers using the $100M Offers framework… tiered packages, value stack, guarantees, the whole thing.

Now I’m working through the Core Four for outreach, and cold DMs on social media are one of the channels I’m considering. For anyone who’s actually applied this in a service-based local business (not an info product or SaaS):

- Have you used DMs as an actual acquisition channel, or did it end up being a waste of time compared to warm audience/referral-based channels?

- If you did use DMs, how much did you lean on the offer itself doing the work vs. the outreach message just being a door-opener to a call?

Would appreciate any advice. Thank you!!

Any videographers/agencies applying Hormozi’s frameworks? Need some help..

Started a video production business a few months ago (weddings, brand/small business video, one music video so far). Wedding videography pays the most but it’s not the long game for me. I want to build toward monthly retainer content for local/small businesses. Think “always-on content partner” model instead of one-off project work.

Before I start from scratch, I’m looking for real examples: has anyone here built or seen a video production offer (for local businesses, real estate, or even wedding/event space) that’s explicitly built on Alex’s frameworks — Grand Slam Offer, value equation, guarantees, etc.?

Specifically trying to figure out:

Pricing structure — flat monthly retainer vs. tiered content volume vs. hybrid (retainer + one-off upsells)?

Guarantees — what’s actually guaranteed in a content retainer? Number of deliverables? Views/engagement? Turnaround time? Or do people avoid outcome guarantees entirely and guarantee process/deliverables instead?

Value equation — how are people framing dream outcome + likelihood of success while minimizing time delay and effort/sacrifice for a business owner who has zero time to manage a videographer?

Scope — is it typically “come film X days a month” or “produce X pieces of content a month regardless of shoot days”?

I know the instinct is “just niche down and build your own offer,” and I will — but I’d rather learn from people who’ve already tested this in the video/content services space than guess blind. If you’ve built something like this (or seen someone crush it), I’d genuinely love to hear about it.

Thanks everyone. Keep on building!
