most of the people i see talking about and loving "like him" usually say "i dont even have an absent father and this song makes me emotional" or something like that, whereas i rarely see anyone praising the song while actually having an absent father/being on any other situation that isnt father-having? lol

as a bastard myself (lmao) i usually skip it, and seeing it live i was like, wow, yall like this, love that for yall, happy for you tyler, but it's a meh for me (but then again i do have a stepdad, and im a woman, and "mother" is one of my faves lol) anyway, thoughts?

I noticed a trend that is becoming a legit issue that many creators I don't think can fix or address at all without getting into a controversy.

The fandom is no longer the passenger in the car, they want to be goddamn wheels, the engine and the doors.

They don’t just want to watch the show or play the game anymore; they want to be the board of directors that bullies the CEO. We used to buy a ticket, sit in the theater, and accept the story for what it was. If we didn't like it, we complained on a forum and moved on.

But now? Because indie projects use intense community engagement, the line between "supporter" and "owner" has blurred into oblivion. Fans have mistaken their financial or emotional investment for creative equity. When a studio drops a new episode or a patch, the reaction isn't "Let's see where the creator is taking this." It's "This violates the brand strategy we outlined (Did not) for them".

If a ship doesn't become canon, rage, if a plot twist goes against a popular fan theory, rage, or if a game mechanic is tweaked in a way that doesn't cater to a specific niche, rage, The creator said something you don't like, rage.

I’ve watched indie animators get lambasted up to personal levels (Including doxxing and digging up stuff) because the fandom one day was mad and wanted to roleplay as the board of directors and bully them into quitting.

When creators are terrified of their own fanbase, they start writing to appease a sector, and guess what, the other sectors get mad and rage.

Walking away from their own IPs because dealing with thousands of screaming "shareholders" who will suddenly pull a knife on you is annoying.

Art needs to be allowed to make you uncomfortable, to fail, or to go in weird directions. If every creative choice has to pass a fandom purity test, you get slop.

You are a passenger, not the wheels, the engine or the door of the car, get out of the car if you are getting a bad experience, find the nearest exit and bail, rate it one star and find another car. Don't grab the driver by the neck, strangle them and make them crash into a tree, because you are going to the hospital with them.
