Why do customers always ask the busiest looking person for help? (sorry for semi rant)

This isn’t a super serious question but I was wondering if anyone had a theory for why customers always seem to ask for help when you’re clearly busy doing something and there are several free BA’s throughout the store?

For example, I’m an ops associate and I swear every time my hands are completely full with multiple bins of products, or I’m on my hands and knees in the drawer or fixing something on the shelf, I will get asked for so many shade matches😭. Of course I always stop to help them if there’s not a BA available but most of the time when it’s slow and there’s plenty of free BA’s I don’t know why they ask me for help. Whenever I’m zoned on the floor to help customers though nobody wants help 😭 It’s like they can sense when I am not actively trying to help people and for some reason that makes them want to come up to me. And then they always say “sorry are you busy?”, because I have to lock the drawers or at least organize something quickly before helping them so there isn’t a mess.

I think this really struck me today because I also did not look my best on my last shift and was scheduled in ops all day. I had a really early shift and my skin has not been great so I decided to not wear makeup. I had pimple patches on and was sweaty from doing updates and shipment all morning, genuinely was scared of my reflection when I got off. But more people ask for help when I look like trash and i’m busy. Like my BA’s all looked so well rested, put together, makeup and skin flawless and a light in their eyes and skip in their step, why must I be targeted when my beautiful and kind BA’s are free and I’m chopped?

I’m also aware this is definitely not an ops exclusive issue. I have seen this happen to the BA’s and it happens to me whenever I’m on the floor, but customers always interrupt when you’re literally in the middle of a shade match/consultation with another customer right in front of you.

Also this is not meant to come off as rude or whiney because I honestly find it kind of funny sometimes and I do enjoy helping people. I know it’s my job to help people and I know this is not an issue exclusive to Sephora lol.

Gratis after transferring?? (partial rant sorry)

Has anyone had issues with receiving their gratis after transferring to a new store? I transferred to a new store in May, meaning my June and July gratis would be shipped to my old store first and then they’re supposed to ship it to my new store.

Guess what?? That’s not what happened 🫩. I don’t even know how to explain what happened because it is ridiculous. Basically back in June I called my old store to check in and see if my June gratis had come in, and if they shipped it. Guess what?? They said mine was the only one that didn’t come in😒. Right… makes perfect sense… Anyway I tell my current management and they put in a ticket for me. Hotline people respond a week later saying that the shipment my gratis was in was received and signed off by someone that did not work at my old store. So now my manager calls my old store and speaks to them and suddenly they’re like “oh yeah we had a whole box of shipment that went missing and went to Sephora at Kohls”🫩 right right… lovely. I could tell my management was confused and my manager was like “I don’t know why she wouldn’t call you to let you know that or tell you when you called”. All I had to say was that I wasn’t even surprised.

I’m not sure what the standard policy is for this if i’m being perfectly honest but for some reason my old store was aware of a missing box and just never reported it?? Almost 2 weeks ago was when my manager called my old store and told them to get in contact with the Kohl’s. A couple days ago another one of my managers speaks to my old store and come to find out that they just never tried to contact the Kohl’s and still did not put in a ticket for this missing shipment 🫩. I genuinely am so confused and have no idea what’s going on. It feels really shady and my new managers have also insinuated that they think my old store is being shady or gave mine away. I know gratis is obviously not the only reason we do what we do, but this was also my first gratis so I was really excited and now it’s just gone. Also I’ve worked at Sephora for almost a year, it’s only my first because I’ve been part-time since February but missed the May order deadline due to medical issues. Also even as a Flex employee I was working 40 hours a week at my old store for months before being part-time. Now I work less than I did than when I was flex at my old store so I’m even more annoyed because I put up with so much bs for them to just not try and fix this problem. Wouldn’t be surprised if some bs happened to my July gratis too.

this is sick and twisted😒
