LOA

Made a post about loa’s before but my surgeon just offered to move my surgery up to September 18th, so like 30 days from now. The issue is, I was only hired on December 8th, 2025 (FT on March 9th). Am I eligible for loa since I have not been there a year?

Why is flex treated so poorly?

No ordering gratis, no LVMH discount anymore, no bonus for holiday just saw that message on zipline. Why do they treat flex like dirt? I was part time before being forced into flex. I have been with the company for years. What is the problem? Will it get any better for flex? Sorry for the rant but it is really aggravating. I'm being held to the same standards as everyone else for mpos, bi sign up, tplh, and tiers and I get treated poorly.

Suspicious Hiring Message

Hello everyone! On August 5th I applied for a Sephora that should be opening soon in my area and have been waiting for any news. Today I received this message and I honestly feel that it might not be real. They did use my real (full) name and even the manager’s name is real (he will also be the manager of the location I applied to) as I looked it up on Linkedin. But the whole teams part seemed very suspicious. If this does some like a usual part of the hiring process please let me know! (The area code also does not even belong in the same state I am)

Edit: Thank so much for all the replies. I think I should’ve clarified that this location is not open yet to the public so there is no listed number I can call.

Set schedule?

so, I’ve talked to my manager twice already about my schedule, I have a second job just cause I need a little more money. I’m curious if set schedule are allowed because according to my SM “we don’t really have one, it’s just based if you are available that day or not. I thought about putting my availability and having it set a certain way and when I did, they immediately turned it down so I’m getting really frustrated and burned out because this is the only store that’s closet to me by an hour and my second job is already across the street from the sephora I work at. So if there is any SM on hear and explain the policy to me or possibly dm and help me construct something, it will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Just applied to beauty advisor position!

I’ve been wanting to work at sephora for awhile and my closest one only had openings for asset protection and stylists. I randomly checked today and say an opening was posted 2 days ago!!!

I am super eager and want the job and basically put my availability for mornings and days and some evenings but i gave availability for everyday.

Is it overkill to call and make sure they got the application or just to show eagerness to work?

Holiday Pay

Hey everyone! I’m an SSL, wondering about Holiday Pay. What is it? I know what time and a half is. I am scheduled on the seventh, The fifth and the eighth. I am hoping to get my shift on the fifth covered, but if that’s the case then I don’t get my holiday pay I heard you have to work the shit before and after to get it. Thanks!

Freedom, But One Last Rant!

You Guys!!! I’M FREEEEEEE, but One Last Rant!
FAIR WARNING, LONG RANT AHEAD!

So I resigned from my store a while ago and boy do I feel a huge weight lifted off my shoulders! My store is only the way it is because of the store manager giving it the bad reputation that it has. Now I see why employees always leave! Haha makes a lot of sense! Anyways……., the management there needs a-lot of help, instead of managing, they bark out orders and expect the BA’s to just bow down and follow said orders. The micromanagement is another thing, that to the leaders is “staying curious”. Last I checked you’re just trying to use “staying curious” as an excuse to micromanage. The staff has complained over several times about it but management just brushes it off and keeps doing what they want to do. Luckily I caught on to it early and stood up to management letting them know that I wasn’t putting up with it! Management also needs to learn how to talk to their staff, they talk to the staff like we are just numbers and don’t have feelings at all. Now, the devices, these devices can be a helpful tool if you don’t know what you’re doing and you work at a makeup store. To someone as myself who’s been doing makeup for 12+ years, the device is useless and holds no value to me. It was only helpful to me to see if a product was in stock or to do mobile checkouts, other than that I didn’t like it and refused to scan clients because the scanner was never accurate to begin with! If we don’t use the device and if we did use it, we basically got to the point of management harassing us to use it and basically shoving it down our throats! Like Ummm hello iCare!!! They are always wanting to lead with technology, well for someone like me who’s been in the industry for a long time does not need a device to tell me how to do my job and make me feel like an idiot! Now onto timing! Management expects us to have a full consultation with a client in 10 minutes and get everything they need within that time frame, um news flash that’s impossible! They need to do better! Phew! Felt great to get that off my chest! Would I recommend anyone work at that store? Haha Strong negative! Would never! Thank you for coming to my TED Talk

Can I return a scribed purchase?

I got this item last week and was super excited to use it I brought it to work right away to get scribed but it actually has the most vile chemical taste I was wondering if I can exchange it for something else or if it’s just a loss now.

Paze

Is anyone else’s stores getting an insane amount of orders from the same people buying the $10 item for credit back. Just curious because my asm even started cancelling orders bc they’re doing multiple transactions purchasing the same item which goes beyond the reasonable purchasing limitations.

Commission?

Been w the company 4 years and we’ve never had commission, but I’ve been told at one point we did earn commission, but it was a competitive work environment. I’m just curious if anyone remembers this or knows why it left? I just recently found out shoppers drug mart beauty advisors earn commission and I believe SOME brand reps do obviously depending on brand👀 Idk just curious on that

Fired?

Guys I work at a stand alone Sephora
One of our supervisors got fired recently and he was literally here for 2 months. I’m dying to know why but it’s very taboo to find out and literally no one knows. It was so unexpected too but there had already been complaints about said manager with their attitude towards certain BAs and there was a recent incident where a client was stealing and they were trying to stop them from stealing. Could it have been that? I was also told it was with policy and that HR was involved.

LBA Questions

I feel like I’m always falling a little behind on cleaning any LBAs always have this issue? I don’t know if I just need better time management skills or what the case is I feel like I always have brushes to clean up at my next shift. I want to know if this is normal or if I could improve my time management

Sometimes clients use the word racist way too loosely

I am not saying racism doesn’t exist or that racist people have never worked for Sephora, they do slip through the cracks Im sure and im not trying to downplay real experiences. but as a mixed girl it is beyond offensive to me how many clients accuse myself or my co workers of being racist over things that are anything but! Im not racist because I didn’t immediately stop helping the white client I was ALREADY HELPING to do your shade match. No, my manager is not racist bc she walked past you once and asked if you were finding everything ok, NOTICE HOW SHE ASKED EVERY OTHER PERSON SHE WALKED BY THE SAME DANG THING??? Oh you walked in at the exact same time as 50 other clients and we didn’t roll out the red carpet for you? Guess we’re racists for that too. Racism is such a serious issue and there’s actual real racial issues happening in the world, a high end makeup store being temporarily sold out of the foundation you need is NOT racism.

Part time BA TO FULL time

Hi ! I’ve recently have been hired with Sephora ( around 2 months ) and I’ve been loving it I work at a very busy location one of the busiest of the Midwest and our Sephora is huge. I wanted to become full time just to have some financial stability because realistically right now I’m barely making enough. I do have a second job but I can’t work both ( the other one is also retail).

I wanted to hear what you guy’s time line has been from being part time to full time.

Also please excuse the mistakes English is not my mother tongue.

Why do customers always ask the busiest looking person for help? (sorry for semi rant)

This isn’t a super serious question but I was wondering if anyone had a theory for why customers always seem to ask for help when you’re clearly busy doing something and there are several free BA’s throughout the store?

For example, I’m an ops associate and I swear every time my hands are completely full with multiple bins of products, or I’m on my hands and knees in the drawer or fixing something on the shelf, I will get asked for so many shade matches😭. Of course I always stop to help them if there’s not a BA available but most of the time when it’s slow and there’s plenty of free BA’s I don’t know why they ask me for help. Whenever I’m zoned on the floor to help customers though nobody wants help 😭 It’s like they can sense when I am not actively trying to help people and for some reason that makes them want to come up to me. And then they always say “sorry are you busy?”, because I have to lock the drawers or at least organize something quickly before helping them so there isn’t a mess.

I think this really struck me today because I also did not look my best on my last shift and was scheduled in ops all day. I had a really early shift and my skin has not been great so I decided to not wear makeup. I had pimple patches on and was sweaty from doing updates and shipment all morning, genuinely was scared of my reflection when I got off. But more people ask for help when I look like trash and i’m busy. Like my BA’s all looked so well rested, put together, makeup and skin flawless and a light in their eyes and skip in their step, why must I be targeted when my beautiful and kind BA’s are free and I’m chopped?

I’m also aware this is definitely not an ops exclusive issue. I have seen this happen to the BA’s and it happens to me whenever I’m on the floor, but customers always interrupt when you’re literally in the middle of a shade match/consultation with another customer right in front of you.

Also this is not meant to come off as rude or whiney because I honestly find it kind of funny sometimes and I do enjoy helping people. I know it’s my job to help people and I know this is not an issue exclusive to Sephora lol.
