How do you do it? I equipped a basic staff on Mirane in Urpinas route and dumped flux at the end of every fight into earth heal and so far I haven't gotten any new lvl 1s.

Do I need to use a specific element of flux?

Do I need to equip an elemental staff? This is pretty confusing.

I advanced to new regions and missed quests. Am I SoL for this playthrough?

Also if I get wiped out do I get to carry stuff over?
