Deli Shop in Skopje, North Macedonia

A new Deli shop was opened recently near my office. And now, I'm there three times a week. It's all small-scale production from a meat producer in Kumanovo, their own pig farm.

The taste of everything is phenomenal - when they ask me what I want to buy, I say "everything!".

Name of the shop is "Baba Marini" - which means "Gradma Maria's" in Macedonian.

They also sell wood oven-baked smoked pork meat. It's heaven! Didn't take a photo of it.

You can also buy some excellent Macedonian vine, specialty local cheeses, purified lard and other products

GAZ-24 Volga in North Macedonia

This was near my lake house in south of N. Macedonia.

It's a huge car, both wide and long. 7-seater, the last row backs fold and make a very big trunk.

Probably leftover from the former Yugoslavia times. I think it's a prop for a movie they are making in the area.

Vehicle Overview

  • Model: GAZ-24-02 Volga estate / station wagon
  • Manufacturer: GAZ (Gorky Automobile Plant), Soviet Union
  • Production Years: 1972–1987
  • Body Style: 5-door station wagon, 6-7 seater
  • Engine: Typically a 2.45-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine (around 95 hp) with rear-wheel drive
