Helmet suggestions.

Helmet suggestions.

Need helmet suggestions under 2.5k.

Main priority is safety and comfort for long rides. Open to MIPS and non-MIPS recommendations, and other brands suggestions are welcome too.

Currently considering these two helmets (attached in pics).

I’ll increase my budget to 4k only if there’s a significant jump in quality/safety.

50k done, next step Tour de France, jk jk

Finally completed my first 50k ride today and also achieved my small goal of doing it within my first 50 rides. Today was ride 32.

50.01 km

02:29:11 moving time

20.1 kmph avg speed

153 m elevation

Started at 4 am and finished around 6:35 am.

Honestly my lungs and legs were surprisingly fine even after 40+ kms. My bum gave up before anything else.

After around 42 km I had to keep alternating between pedaling and standing while moving because sitting became painful, so average speed dropped a bit there. Otherwise I think it would've been around 21km/h.

Was in gear 5 for almost the entire ride. Right now that’s my comfort gear because I can maintain higher cadence there. Gear 6 is manageable too but I’m choosing smoother spinning over forcing heavier gears. Will probably shift to gear 6 more once gear 5 starts feeling too easy.

Other constant battle was DOGS

Got chased multiple times and at one point there were like 20ish dogs together so I literally had to get down and walk for a while.

These dogs were annoying af but I guess they accidentally trained my sprinting because I ended up doing several unexpected sprints today :P

Any tips for improving further?

Second life rc100/120 drop bars

Saw a Triban RC100/120 (not fully sure which one) with drop bars in the Second Life section at Decathlon Malad on 8th May 2026 at around 4 pm.

The price was around ₹14-15k and I think it was close to 40% off. The gear shifters were integrated with the brake levers.

Posting here in case anyone was looking for one.

I don’t know this guy personally, just found his channel randomly while looking for cycling content.

I’ve recently started cycling myself, and watching his videos honestly feels like I’m kind of living my cycling dreams through his rides. He explores routes around Mumbai, shares his rides in a very simple, real way, and also adds some nice drone shots which look really good.

He’s been uploading for quite some time and is still under 1k subs, which I found surprising.

Not posting this as promotion, just sharing something I personally enjoyed. If you end up liking his content, maybe consider supporting a fellow cyclist.
