So we just got our pontoon boat back from the mechanic. It was just supposed to be regular maintenance but they called and said the steering cable caps were leaking and the steering cable and throttle line were dry rotted and needed replacing. We took it out in the water for the first time after the repairs today, and the steering wheel skips. Like when going to turn it will be working fine but then it just skips - no resistance it just spins forward with no resistance when turning either direction. It happens at the same point in the arc of the steering wheel in both directions. I’m planning to call the marina tomorrow to let them know but thought you fine people may be able to help diagnose it too. Any thoughts?
