There are a lot of opinions online comparing these two movies for reasons I don't like to delve into too much. Personally, I was a fan of Troy and I also love Odyssey and I actually think these movies complement each other very well.
Troy can be seen as the Trojan battle through stories that got circulated around by people. It is all about the spectacles, the duels, the battles. That is the meeting of many greater than life legends like Achilles, Ajax, Odysseus. A lot of grand things, a lot of drama and everything is beautiful, bright and neat. But underneath those illusions of grandeur and glory, most of the Heroes and Kings met their end because of a meaningless war that took countless lives.
On the other hand, Odyssey is the truth about all those spectacles after the dust settled. The war is ugly, deceiving, it leaves people broken with trauma and guilt. A lot of the survivors of the Trojan war died even when the war was over, their families were broken, the trust between people got lost and society lost its core meaning. The tone is depressed and gray, but it is the truth of war.
Both of the movies use minimal interactions with God because contrary to the source material, the war isn't guided by the gods, it is from human greed. Troy started with Paris breaking Zeus's law and stealing another man's wife, Odyssey ended with the fact that people will no longer obey Zeus's law. Troy has a lot of heroes that are handsome, strong, and wise. Odyssey has all of those heroes as flawed and ugly people full of insecurity.
Despite some details that contradict each other like Helen, Menelaus, Agamemnon's fates, I personally think Troy can be a somewhat prequel to Odyssey and watching them both would make you appreciate the whole story better and add to the experience.
Tl;dr: Troy can be seen about the Trojan war through the eyes of an outsider as grandeur stories about a legendary battle. Odyssey is the truth about that battle from the participants and the ugliness of it.
