Can someone who has a 28mm 2.8 post a function test on the blades returning after releasing the button.

I have two of these one I just acquired today from eBay and one from marketplace a few months ago. Both blades are slow to return or don’t until I move to a different aperture(neither have oil on them, so I’m guessing missing spring). Unlike my 3.5 which instantly returns.

Took a gamble and lost,

Guy said it was clean with no marks but clearly there is a grouping of spots, anyone know what it could be?

The Zuiko 28mm f2.8, a few rolls later...

The OM-1N was my first ever SLR camera (recently followed by the OM4Ti). Got 3 lenses for it, the 50mm 1.8, 100mm f2.8 and the 28mm f2.8.

The 28mm has been by far the most challenging lens I have used (but in a good way), as someone who only used a 35mm for a long time on my digital cameras, the 28mm represented something very different and a pretty fun experience overall.

Never been a big fan of getting close to people on the street and taking their photos and with the 28mm you somewhat have to do that but I still prefer to usually step back. It has given me some pretty fun and unique perspectives. Might snatch up a 21mm f3.5 to go even wider haha.

Also, sharp AF. I know it has a thiny bit of distortion but I kind of like it.

Films used: Fuji 200, Kodak Gold and Ultramax.

A Beauty within the Beast

Yesterday I was walking in the city just waiting for my friend; so I went to the Flea Market and saw this inoperative battered OM10 with a “broken lens” he asked me 75 and I offered 40 after some hesitation he agreed.

At first I just wanted to buy it for the lens.

It’s too bad I didn’t took some picture before cleaning it. So finally a Beast became a real Beauty.

I am using Olympus for the longest time and I definitely know these cameras are pretty tough and hard to beat.

Olympus Zuiko 300mm f4.5 on a sony a7ii

I love my old olympus glass, thinking about getting a Olympus OM-D E-M1 for my old lenses.
Could be interesting to see a 600mm f4.5 😀or a 100mm f1.4

Edge-blackening fell off

This lens has a bit of a story behind it. An unreliable seller on eBay listed photos of an almost mint-condition OM lens, but what I actually received was this one. The case was settled with a refund without return, so the lens has been sitting unused for quite a while.

I’m wondering whether the issue with the black paint peeling off around the edges is a repairable defect. The lens is an early single-coated OM 50mm f/1.4.

Advice - Olympus 1000mm f11 E.Zuiko Auto-T Lens

I came across one of these at a local shop for, what seems to be, a decent price.

Does anyone have experience, use cases, or test photos?

Help, front lens damage

Hello, I have two identical Zuiko 50mm f1.8. The front lens of both have mild damage. Which would perform better?
They’re both as clean as can be.

Lens 1 has a regular pattern of tiny spots, which I attempted to remove, but won’t budge.

Lens 2 has a slight haze, and some scratches that can’t be seen clearly in the picture.

Tysm for any help.

OM Zuiko 300mm F4.5 - Rebuild - CLA Difficulty?

Are these difficult to rebuild and CLA?

Also wondering how well the 300mm pairs with a teleconverter 1.4x or 2x?

Picked one up recently for around £80, dust, mild haze, a small amount of fungus and a few spots on the inside of the front element, housings are pristine as are the coatings on the glass itself. Found the exploded diagrams on the dementix website and it's not a simple lens going off the diagram, may have to start with my 50mm F1.8 and 28mm f2.8 OM glass to get a feel of how they are put together. CLA cost will be as much or more than the lens itself is worth.

Olympus F.Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 reassembly help - focusing key jams helicoids

Dear all, this is the same lens from my previous post here.

I would like to seek guidance on what could have gone wrong with the focusing key.

  1. One of the few things that worked fine on this lens when I got it was the focusing mechanism. Dry, but functioned without problem otherwise.
  2. I had since taken the lens entirely apart and restored/cleaned up what I can. For the helicoids, I separated them (having marked point of separation), cleaned them, and applied tiny amount of fresh grease.
  3. I recoupled the helicoids along the marks I made, and they rotate fine individually. I then aligned the helicoids according to the number of turns each took to separate, which I had previously noted, and installed the focusing key. The screwholes for the key on rear ring and the and the trench in the inner helicoid for the key to slide in aligned OK, so I screwed it down.
  4. The whole mechanism would then be jammed solid (or move with the utmost difficulty) until I removed the focusing key. What could I have done wrong?

Caveat: I did align the helicoids along the marks I made when recoupling them. However, as a novice I may have been overcautious and made too many marks (broadly, at infinity zoom, MFD, and point of separation respectively) so I might have used the wrong reference marks so please do not discount this possibility.
