Ides of Rye

Had some solid seafood pasta and was craving an Italian cocktail on the walk home. Spitballed with my bartender and we/he came up with this.

The Ides of Rye
2 oz Michter's Single Barrel Straight Rye
3/4 oz Amaro dell'Etna
5-6 dashes Peychaud's bitters
Strega rinse (instead of absinthe)
Expressed lemon twist

Prep:
Chill a rocks glass and rinse with Strega, discarding the excess.
Stir the rye, Amaro dell'Etna, and Peychaud's bitters with ice until well chilled.
Strain into the prepared glass, served neat without ice.
Express a lemon peel over the cocktail and garnish.

St. Lawrence 🌟 Vancouver

9/10. Really impressed. Second time here, they change the menu monthly. This was their Provence inspired menu.

The maple-spiced pork rinds were a fun way to start, and every course after that delivered. The Hiramasa was incredibly fresh, the king salmon was cooked perfectly, and the duck with foie gras and cherries was good and the quail stuffed with sausage was fantastic. Finished with the chocolate mousse cake, which was exactly what I wanted after a rich dinner.

I also thought it was a great value. Coming from the U.S., the exchange rate made the tasting menu feel like an absolute steal for the quality of the food and service.
