I'm the owner of a Whippet X Border Collie (let's say he's a very good boy, but a loveable handful!),

Please share your tips for crafting the best profile and intro message to give fellow Workawayers the best chance of securing a stay.

The goal is to create a short guide that can go in the wiki for hopeful Workawayers improving their outreach and profiles.

The secondary goal here is to clean up posts relating to this, having one point of reference for a common barrier to entry fellow Workawayers face.

Thank you for keeping the majority of the content posted and your responses helpful and positive. Makes our job easier.

That said just a few updates:

I’ve removed the ability to cross post as we’ve been getting a lot of low effort cross posts from Worldpackers subreddit lately.

I’ve also included the ability to add gifs to comments, though this is currently on a trial basis, I’ve seen it be both good and bad on different subreddits so in conjunction with your feedback let’s see how it goes.

Finally, just a quick reminder that if you do see a post that clearly breaks the rules - be that using the sub as a Workaway alternative/requesting hosts, or a low effort post, or ragebaiting or visa questions, please report the post and try not engage with it!

I’ll also be removing the inactive host showcase thread, if you’d like to post about your experience with a host you’re welcome to do so, but hosts themselves aren’t using this thread so it’s currently wasting a spot in the stickies.

A space for hosts to promote their Workaway profiles, please be as descriptive of your location/expectations/general vibe as possible.

Volunteers/Workawayers are free to reply to hosts with questions but please do not leave standalone comments, or attempt to bypass the Workaway system by ‘volunteering’ on this thread.
