Refinished 1940’s hardwood floors

Is this a good job? These contractors came with awesome reviews but there’s still gaps between the planks and some gashes/inconsistencies. I think I’m just used to seeing new hardwood with the completely smooth laminate look 😵‍💫 let me know what you think!

Flying with water in ears?

Hi! In Florida. Big wave flipped over our tube on the beach and sent a bunch of water into my ears. Feeling lots of pressure and pain in both my ears still a day later. How fucked am I if I get on a plane? Seeing lots of things about bursting ear drums and stuff. But I’m car-less and a 20 hour drive from home :( what can I do/what do you recommend?

How to wash painted walls

Hello! I don’t know if this is the appropriate sub for this so forgive me if it isn’t! Just bought a home built in 1940 and the primary bedroom has these beautiful hand stencilled walls. I want to keep them more than anything. They are however very dirty (being 80 years old)— what would you recommend for cleaning walls that is effective but also gentle enough to not ruin these very old stencils?

Thank you for any insight!!

1% asbestos in plaster

What do I do? Just bought a house and tests came back positive for 1% chrysotile in the wall sample. What do I do. We don’t plan on tearing down any walls but we will certainly be cutting into them to do some electrical. I’d also eventually like to hang and mount things on the wall. How do I live in this house for the rest of my life fearing any scratch on the wall? Removal would be double our entire reno budget… is that the only opinion?

Pic for attention

How do I work this glass block vent(?) ?

Unsure what this centre block is and how to operate it! It has a metal rod that doesn’t appear to do anything attached to it— included pics from outside. Texture on inside portion is like mesh…. Has anyone seen anything like this?

I’m sorry if this is the wrong sub haha
