Do you know what year this tenor saxophone was made?

I am borrowing a Yamaha tenor saxophone from my school, but I cannot find a standard model number. The only number marked on the instrument itself is "812102." Additionally, there is a stamp of the letter "N" at the joint where the body meets the bell.

The appearance of the contrabassett horn currently under construction.

Moving forward, I intend to continue my efforts—even if it is just one step at a time—while incorporating design elements like those found in the basset horn.

The appearance of the Contrabassett Horn I hope to build someday.

I want to build an instrument that hardly anyone has ever made before! By the way, the stick figure next to me is set to the same height as I am.

A cone-shaped instrument I made previously.

I am afraid of damaging the instrument or throwing off the intonation, so I am refraining from opening any more tone holes.

If the recorder were a double-reed instrument, what kind of sound would it make?

The first instrument is a sopranino recorder, the second is a soprano recorder, and the third is an alto recorder. The reed is made from a scrap of a clear plastic folder, and a straw is used in place of the bocal (mouthpiece).

What kind of sound would the Octavin produce if it had a wider bore and used a double reed?

I attempted to make a homemade "octavin" simply by rolling up a transparent plastic sheet and taping it shut, but I forgot to narrow the inner diameter, resulting in a rather thick instrument. Nevertheless, I managed to produce a sound by fashioning a mouthpiece and a reed section out of leftover scraps from the sheet.

A conceptual sketch of a low-register clarinet that I plan to build someday.

From left to right, they are the contrabass clarinet, octocontra-alto clarinet, and octocontrabass clarinet.

The sound of instruments I built myself, such as the octocontra-alto clarinet and the octocontra-bass clarinet.

The first sound is that of an octocontra-alto clarinet. The second sound is that of an octocontra-bass clarinet. The third sound is the result of playing these two recorded sounds simultaneously.

Check out this octo-contrabass clarinet-like thing I built!

I made the body and mouthpiece out of things like PVC pipe, and used a plastic sheet for the reed. If I measured it correctly, the total length should be over 5.4 meters!

Check out the octocontrabass clarinet I built!

I made the body and mouthpiece out of things like PVC pipe, and used a plastic sheet—like the kind used for desk mats—as a substitute for the reed. If my measurements are correct, the body length comes out to over 5.4 meters!
