You should use structure blocks. It's increased my redstone tec 10 fold. Also here's a thing for the builders. Make a palette and take it with you. I use this for statues. To get the block,in game chat type /give @s structure_block

Monorail fix

If you dont want to count ice or add water to lower boat area add a basic pressure plate to piston . To stop bounce back.
